I don’t see any reason why we shouldn’t be targeting Gyokeres and Piroe. I doubt either will cost that much, we probably could get both for somewhere around £25m I’d imagine.
There's been a couple of Prem teams linked with Gyokeres. Think Burnley were one of them. Personally I'd still prefer Che over either him or Piroe.
I think Che will go. AA has said he wants to stay and if he is actually used as a striker instead of being used out of position he may well be an asset next season.
I don’t think we will get both, as you say Gyokeres has been linked to Prem teams for about a season now and from the looks of the fee Cov supposedly want I’m sure there will be someone willing to take a punt. We should still be sniffing around though and sounding out interest. Getting in a top striker for this level (or 2) would go along way to getting us straight back up. You can argue that Adams and Armstrong are that already but who knows how the 3/4 seasons or whatever it is away from scoring regularly has affected them.
AA has had one good season in the Championship by taking a ridiculous amount of shots, and nothing that I have seen from him in a Saints shirt suggests that was anything more than an anomaly. He just doesn't seem like he's a good enough footballer and he didn't look any better against lower opposition in the cups either. If Che and Tall Paul go then maybe you keep him and bring in another but I'm not convinced he's going to come good here next season. As ever, if it means Saints do well I'd be delighted if he proves me wrong. Che might not score as freely in the championship as we might like, but he has a lot more to offer with his all round play then AArmstrong and he has still scored an okay amount for us over a few seasons in the PL.
I'd love Piroe to come here because if anyone knows how best to supply him him it's RM. It would be a no risk signing as far as i'm concerned. If he and Tella have similar seasons to this one then that's nearly 40 goals between them!
Can't believe he's 27 now. I remember when he was almost breaking through to the first team and we were thinking he was going to be the next Lallana.
That's a crazy fall from the top, really. We all had high hopes for him once upon a time. I know not all players make it, but to go from coming on against Man Utd & playing Europa League football, to playing for (and no disrespect) Sholing in your peak, is quite a come-down.
Juve are a bit skint so looking for cheaper options. Mind you Sulemana would still cost at least £25mill.
I’d heard of Sulemana before he signed for us as he cropped up on various articles/videos about the most promising players so not really surprising there will be interest in him. A few month spell with us where he didn’t exactly feature a lot isn’t going to put off any team who was looking at him previously. Question with him is whether or not he has a relegation release in his contract.
It's tough here as well, particularly with Adam Armstrong, Djenepo & Aribo under contract still. And he's had to battle with Ely & Walcott.
They are also after Pulisic. Juventus are leading the race to sign Chelsea'sUnited States forward Christian Pulisic, 24, for £20m. (Mail)
