The Aberdeen manager says so: https://www.pressreader.com/uk/the-...ighlands-and-islands/20220616/282218014452439 Also played a leading role in scouting and recruitment for Burnley, Leeds and Middlesbrough previously.
Article is paywalled but in short: - Darren Mowbray joining the club this summer as head of recruitment - Has been head of recruitment at Aberdeen since 2021 - Prior to that was a senior figure at Leeds, Middlesbrough and Burnley - Forming part of new senior leadership team of the football department: Wilcox, Mowbray + new head coach + new head of academy - Ankersen led January recruitment in absence of Joe Shields, but now Wilcox and Mowbray's remit
What does our local reporter know about him? He's a Saints supporter from Aberdeen, can't think what his name is.
A bit of a mixed bag - he`s brought in four good value foreign recruits (Duk, Ramadani, Roos and Miovski). Had some duds too - Stewart (our captain!), spent the second half of the season at MK Dons, Richardson, Morris. Some good loan signings - Scales from Celtic, Clarkson from Liverpool. Saints is a huge job by comparison, and he`ll need to hit the ground running of course. He`ll be shopping at John Lewis rather than Poundland - so it`s a bit of a risk, and I hope Saints have done thorough due diligence on him.
The manager in the article was sacked a few months ago - and the Dutch winger mentioned (Besuijen) was packed off back to Holland on loan because his attitude stank.
He doesn’t start with us until July 1st….. surly that means any recruitment in June would not be him?
You’d also think the targets he has put together for Aberdeen aren’t going to be who we are looking at.
Another decision reversed by Sport Republic. Hopefully Spors hangs around and we seem something resembling a consistent long term strategy
