Yeah, Seems like could be a massive shift everywhere... Maybe a lower league Premier league team will look at Diallo. Haha
With these players, we need to be smart & pay them what they are worth, not what they think they’re worth or even what the market rate is. It’s got to be right for Saints. It seems to me we’ve bought & retained a lot of over inflated contracts with small benefit to us. Again, re-set time, big style.
Kane and Son weren’t elite players when Poch got hold of them. Kane had barely played for Spurs and Son didn’t join until a year into Poch’s tenure. I’m sure they both would say they owe a lot to Poch for developing their careers. Guess we’ll just have to agree to disagree on this, although if he fails at Chelsea I’m sure the “everyone fails there” can be used again (what big club can that not he used at tbf!)
Come on, if you are going to make derogatory remarks about another country, at least try and make them witty ! I agree entirely with you about his contribution (or lack of it) to the team, but he was ineffective before he went to Scotland - that`s why he was moved there!
I couldn't give a toss who he goes to if he goes for 40m pounds. Honestly, I couldn't give a toss who any of them go to outside the championship if the fee is good. That'd be classic if we got 40m. I do wonder if he would stay at Saints if we couldn't find a buyer.. interesting one.
Regarding JWP on a big club, there is a role that he 100% won't get considered for, but which probably suits his skillset better than any other: playing for Man City...as a right back. Pep loves his weird narrow fullback roles, which place a greater emphasis on tidy passing and play around the box rather than bombing down the wings, it would reduce his deficiencies as a central playmaker, and you'd have one of the best crossers from deep in the game (something he doesn't get to utilize that often) pinging balls to the best finisher of crosses in football.
No problem with JWP leaving - he'd have stayed with us had we stayed up. I'm hoping we'll get £40-50m for him. JWP should go to a mid-table club like West Ham, Villa, Brighton, where he'll get enough games to break Beckham's record. He'll get more games and will be more likely to play for England than if he only gets the occasional game at Arsenal, Man City, etc.
I don’t really buy this argument. It all depends what he wants from his playing. Kalvin Phillips is proof you don’t need to play regularly to get an England place, Maguire too for that matter. If he went to City, he’d likely come away from his career with fewer matches, but more silverware as he’d likely play the cup matches for them. If he went to West Ham, he’d be doing the same thing as he would be at Saints, albeit in the PL… which begs the question, why go there at all except for more money and PL status? I wouldn’t be surprised to see him at Newcastle as they need proven squad players for CL and he’d likely get a good amount of games under Howe.
Oh absolutely, but as per my second paragraph, he would be starting every game with Saints, as he would with someone like West Ham. It would then be a move for PL status as a player, potentially fighting off relegation year after year again.
Remember a few summers back we were heavily linked with Quincy Promes? Well he's just being prosecuted for smuggling 1300Kg of cocaine.
I'm taking this with a pinch of salt but hopefully it is true. https://www.givemesport.com/carlos-alcaraz-southampton-news-st-marys/
If we keep him and Sulemana next season should be a lot more fun. Get Piroe in as well and we should score plenty of goals.
I'd still like to see a new striker come in personally. It all depends on who ends up staying and who goes but in my ideal world I'd get rid of AArmstrong and Tall Paul. Keep Che and Mara and add another striker. I think Che might go though and one of the ones I don't want to keep will probably end up staying.
