we don't even need to turn up in league. just cruise this europa and collect the pot straight in to champions league as top seed mate.
For those feeling down about missing CL, feast your eyes on the greatest EL night at Anfield. It was breathtaking. The greatest comeback before the actual greatest comeback.
^^^^^ That game was as exciting as any game I've seen at Anfield. The game v Barcelona obviously meant more in terms of the competition but from a purely spectacle point of view, I can't separate them. The EL can be as, or more, entertaining than CL. I'm looking forward to games like this.
What kind of manager or team would sign him/play him after that? Even once the scandal is died down, who would want him in their dressing room?
We should have done that in the Champions League this season- just cruised to the title. It was very unprofessional of Klopp to choose not to win it.
err a team who needed a goalscorer . you clearly have a higher opinion of the morals of pro sport than me .
I'm not sure you can rule it out. Depends what inside information he had for those games, or if others who were playing were in on it. It would be good to know the results of the games he bet on to lose. If it's largely all losses then that would also be suspect imo.
That's what I thought. Morals don't seem to come into it when signing players or playing them - remember Adam whatisname at Sunderland and the grooming scandal. But with regard to teammates, it would surely be a frosty dressing room.
don't see why as he was just betting they would be more likely to rip the piss out of him after all it's not like he drove through the city centre at 90mph whilst paralytic .
I mean that's about it, the dressing room... even if you don't care about morals you probably do care about morale. Having a player on the team who has, in the past, figuratively stabbed his teammates in the back, isn't great for trust and teambuilding. I'd like to think managers care about morals, but obviously, many probably don't. They should care about team-building and character though. He's pretty much ruined any credibility he ever had to his character. I wouldn't want him, not knowing what he will do next.
None of the finer details have been published but he has been found not guilty of match fixing. Make of it what you will. I wouldn't trust the FA as far as I could throw them.
I don't mean the dressing room at the time, they were probably completely unaware. Milk was talking about anyone thinking of signing him now (if he moved on).
Indeed. And I could be wrong but, I feel like he would always be treated with suspicion and not fully trusted by players or managers going forwards.
Betting companies as shirt sponsors needs binning off as well. Brentford don't mind taking the money for that ..... let's help Toney and his addiction all the while having him be a walking billboard for Hollywood betting
Jan Molby left prison (having been paid by LFC throughout his time inside) and was straight back with the first team squad and they didn't seem too bothered and his offence was clearly the more heinous . Clubs make business judgements on this sort of thing and most players don't seem too bothered by what their team mates get up to off the field .
I get your point but it wasn't off the field it literally involved his teammates and their performances on the field. It's different to every other offense we hear about players getting up to.
where as personally i think most won't give a **** tbh apart from to laugh how much he lost when they won .
1978 world Cup. Mired in match fixing accusations as hosts win world Cup shortly after coup in country 1982 world Cup, golden boot paulo rossi, the match fixer. None of it ever stops people idolising them nor team mates being just fine. Suarez ffs. Toney had a few bets over time and claims to be an addict. Michael Owen ffs couldn't go 5mins without a card game or horse race. It's about clean sport here. Was he up to no good or not. The devil is in the details like betting on a side to go do something then playing that side and losing etc.
