Basically he said that Eddie has done so well that we are well ahead of schedule and the expectation (after finishing top 4 and getting to a cup final) will be to have more of the same. Whereas in reality, with our squad and spending, vs other teams, finishing outside top 4 next season isn't going backwards. We'll be playing more games, against good European opponents, so we need to improve both squad quality and depth - and even then, no guarantees of qualifying for Europe again. Basically, Eddie and the boys have over achieved and we can't expect that every season. I totally agree. Fantastic season, but well ahead of where we should be on paper if you look at our squad. Keep our feet on the ground.

Dont take this wrong way as not a dig at all. You’ve deserved CL. However agree you’ve Massively overachieved this year and def ahead of where many thought you’d be. 4th place is normally around 76 points I believe so given you’ll finish 3rd with 73 max does show that you’ve been helped by United, us, spurs and Chelsea all having off seasons as well meaning it’s been ‘easier’ to finish in top 4, without trying to be disrespectful. I liken it to Leicester win. They fully deserved it no doubt. But they were helped by the other teams having really poor seasons. Could just be the start for you guys. Or could end up fighting for 7th next year if chelsea under new manager get **** together along with us and some new signings etc plus you struggle with the expectations and extra games. Still enjoy those CL nights. Imagine SJP will be rocking.
