All things considered this was a great result. I wasn't able to make this game so I was hooked to the radio, seems like we rode our luck at times although a cracking 35 / 40 yard goal by Payne means that he is fit and hungry once again!

Comments from anyone who went to the game?

Live in Bournemouth atm so just got back... Danny Jackman was MOTM IMO, played some decent balls and looked very confident. Payne played well and was dissapointed to see him leave the field, his goal was outstanding...still getting goosebumps from it lol but that being said Bournemouth's goalkeeper was terrible, i havent looked at the stats but i cant remember many more the 3 shots on target from the gills so that pretty much sums up their keeper. Cant really remember much more because im still buzzing from Kedwell's late goal! Couldnt of pick a better player to score it, you could see what it meant to him! He did well up on his own despite countless high long balls up to him with no support. Fish however couldnt cope with Malone which resulted in many nailbiting moments, seemed to be able to run at players when he had the ball though. Anyway hope that helped

A thrilling finish but tbh we were lucky to come away with a draw.A great goal from Jack assisted by poor goalkeeping.Jackman was our best player.Fish had a nightmare, was roasted time and time again. He looks well short of confidence.Oli was magnificent when he came on......only joking.Overall well happy with a draw but we wont progress far without our two loanees.

Also of note our young Argentinian GK had a good game. yes I know he dropped a cross for their second goal, but three saves he made were top, top draw, including when Thomas was clear through, trying to go around him and he picked it off his toes. I was most impressed with his ditribution though. As soon as he got the ball, he sprinted to the edge of his area and released it quickly to one of the wingers who was in space. Now it seems as though Flitney always wants to slow the game down and takes forever. I say stick with him Hess, let the lad build up some confidence and we'll be able to flog him for a big fee as usual once the big boys come crawling.
What wasn't on the highlights was the 15-20 Gills fans who sprinted towards Kedwell to celebrate the third, with a few even jumping over the hoardings...
Now for a good draw to give us an incentive to win please.

first match ive been able to go to this year (uni in southampton) and have made some ratings for the starting 11:

gazzaniga: 7 - yes, he was at fault for the 2nd goal, but apart from that was pretty much solid and made 3 very good saves. well worth playing him more regularly i reckon

fish: 5 - clearly not up to the standard. i know i havent seen him against L2 opposition, but as i too am a full back, his decision making was completely lacking. he would drop off when he had support but then move in tight when he didnt, and regularly allowed malone past him. however, he did make a very good run that resulted in the free kick for jackmans goal
lawrence: 6 - had a quiet game with no huge errors, though thomas did burn him for pace a couple of times
frampton: 7 - not many mistakes, and several times managed to get in some good tackles to prevent a 1-on-1. from where i was his booking looked harsh
martin: 7 - coped fairly well with their right winger, and was comfortable going forward too. would still like to see him a bit more solid at times though

    j. payne: 8 - lost the ball a few times, but won possession far more than he surrendured it, and was always available for a pass. his goal was pretty good too
lee: 7 - ditto payne. overall he played just as well as payne, but obviously no extra point for a 35-yard-wonder-strike
jackman: 9.5 - very definitely our best player. like a spaniel on a mission he pressured bournemouth into mistakes time and again, his passing was calm and assured, and when he got moved onto the left in the last 10 he was still the main man. minus half a point for his goal not being a 35-yard-wonder-strike
whelpdale: 6 - tried, but couldnt get into the game. doesnt look suited to a winger role, but as a regular right midfielder

rooney: 6 - usual story. a few moments of skill and attacking incision, but gave the ball away regularly, and kept cramping martin by coming short to get it off him when he couldve moved inside or made a run forward. almost cost a 4th goal by giving it away but gazza was able to get down to thomas' feet
kedwell: 7 - far too lonely upfront on his own. run himself into the ground but couldnt get into the game until stefan payne was brought on to bolster the front line. fully deserved his goal

Just seems every week Fish is showing that he is not that good. He is our defence problem, but he cannot take the full blame as overall they can be weak as a unit.

I can't decide on Fish until I see him play with a decent midfield in front off him, I don't want to criticize Whelpdale but he doesn't offer any protection for the right back. Opposition wingers will always seem to have unchallenged runs down the right and are at top speed when they reach Fish, as for his positioning our team orders are for the full backs to go forward, this is when midfield should cover the overlap, not drift inside.
