I'm not sure that Royal Antwerp can really be considered a big club, they're average attendances is 4,387 and the last time they won the Belgian league was 1957.
I understand peoples concerns about Joyce's experience. However at the moment the major concern for the club is to keep the current momentum and development going whilst also keeping the core of our young team together. The players loved NP, especially the young ones who probably hold Joyce in a similar regard. If he is appointed we'll stand a good chance of keeping hold of the likes of Chester and Stewart (I get the feeling that none of them would push for a move to follow Pearson unless a bid was accepted because they seem like a tight knit bunch of lads.) unless a PL club came in for them. Having Barmby as a assistant would allow a sense of continuation from the current regime whilst also allow him to develop as a coach and come the day when Joyce (or who ever else) leaves, be it after failure or success we already have our next manager, and thats a good place to be interms of growing and developing the club. It might turn out Barmby is a poor manager but he's always going to get the chance at some stage.
Well theyve won the leage havent they? And I remember them having european campaigns. How does that attendance compare with other 2nd division clubs?
The inside source of Wikipedia tells us they are one Belgium's best supported clubs, but perennial underachievers.
Good we can do with out the support of people like you! i'm trying not to call you any names!!!!!! Yes the club sacked him but what for?? saving the club from non league football? he should never of been sacked in my eyes. He has gained alot of experince and has worked with the best manager in the world. At the endof the day it does not matter who we get some people would never be happy! Even if we got SAF you would get some people not happy and saying why have we gone for a 69 y/o has been!!
****ing hell we do for want of a better word have some small minded fans. How can you be basing an opinion on the fact we sacked him over 10 years ago? What ever happened to career development? Joyce could well go on to be our most successful manager ever. Whoever gets the job will have my support, because they want to be here. Better than that monotone ****ing dullard whose life is based on firm principles!
You can if you like I can handle it I posted this last night and having slept on it I would just like to say I wouldn't change a thing, I'll stick to what I wrote. There is no doubting what Joyce helped to achieve all those years ago but christ let's get real, Joyce??? God help us if that's the best we can do. PS. The Canucks kick The Flames arse every time.
But if it's a Joyce/Barmby combo, career development is exactly what's wrong. Joyce has shown himself to be a very talented coach. Not a manager. And what are we backing that up with, someone with 18 months coaching experience. As I said in a previous post. If this is our future management team, we're signing two Phil Browns, when what we need is a Phil Brown and a Brian Horton.
or Joyce/Horton... I could deal with that. It's not the individuals - Phil Brown only had a few disasterous months at Derby before everything he achieved here. Inexperience isn't a problem if the coach is talented enough - which Joyce is, and Barmby is. But you need the experience from somewhere. Someone in the mould of Horton, who's been there, done that. It's not just at our level - from Grimsby with their pair, right up to Chelsea with AVB... you can see the effect of inexperience, when it's not tempered by a wise head.
For you ****ers slagging off Joyce, I wouldn't mind but you'll all toss him off if we get relegated and won't even form an orderly cue, no wonder Pearson has never thought greatly of us fans when you don't give anyone a chance and as soon as someone goes that gets us close to promotion with no money he goes from hero to zero, if you got offered 3x your current wage or something you'd **** off somewhere else. I can't blame him for going, things happen for a reason, poor Warren Joyce not even in line to manage yet you all like how Stewart and Chester have come out. What hope has Warren Joyce got if your slating him now.
P.s. Please correct my cue spelling because that would be really funny meaning you'd have nothing else to question.
Hello it's me Dean24 number one ****er, If I think Joyce is a **** choice that's my opinion, Sentiment is bullshit.
No making it up, I'd just confused a comment about Schteeve from another thread. Is Parkin (400+ games) still around?
So you would not want Manchester United's reserve manager as our manager? Manchester United's reserve players are good enough for this level i think their reserve manger might be aswell, you don't become Manchester United reserve manager for being a bad manger. God there really are some idiots who come on here.
Thank you for having sense like me, it seems to be the people e.g. Me and you who arent always sat on this site all day that have well thought out opinions. Not people that persistently post all day, notice if someone replies to thus CityCalv, they'll have made loads of posts or will be one of the few that doesn't hog thus site with a poor opinion.
My point is that a lot of folks see him in the way of the Wiki entry. I agree - having set up a Wiki entry - that it's not always FACT but, rather, opinion.
You mean like Steve McLaren? Tell you what - why don't you list for me Brian Kidd's managerial achievements.
