Part of my youth has just died. RIP Andy Rourke. Was also at the Hull Uni gig - the first of many times that I was lucky enough to see them play live. Morrissey and Johnny Marrr always got the plaudits but, to me, Andy Rourke and Mike Joyce were just as integral to the band. Sad day. RIP Andy Rourke
I thought The Smiths had groove to them, a bounce, just something that made the songs drive. I guess it was him and Johnny Marr listening to the bass lines of Bernard Edward from Chic.
They were a band which some how at the time passed me by .It was only later that I got into them And realised how talented the group were . I really did enjoy getting into their back catalogue. As said sad day and no age to go .I am in Spain at the minute so I know what will be on my playlist today by the pool.
Damn that’s a shame, I did a semester at Syracuse University on an exchange programme and he was pretty much legend number one there. RIP.
Brilliant novelist but my favourite book of his was the memoir 'Experience'. An astonishing piece of autobiography. RIP to MA and to cousin Lucy.
Pete Brown, countercultural poet, singer and Cream lyricist, dies aged 82 British poet who wrote lyrics for Sunshine of Your Love, White Room and many more also had acclaimed solo career
There’s quotes and anecdotes all over tonight, but I liked this one: "Until you're 45 or so, you still think you're going to live forever. You look in the mirror and think, 'Well, most people die, but in your case... clever you. Lucky you!' And then, you pass 60, and you think, Hang on, this'll end in tears.' But ageing isn't the steady accumulation of wisdom or knowledge. It's constantly improvising to meet new circumstances. We're like children all our lives, because every 10 years we have to acquaint ourselves with a new set of rules. Being 50 is not at all like being 30; you are always feeling your way. And you get a bit wiser as you get older, but you don't get physically braver. As a child, I expected that. As a grown-up, I was shocked to see it hadn't happened."
In my top 5 tunes ever. RIP Pete Brown. https://www.songfacts.com/facts/cream/white-room https://www.songfacts.com/facts/cream/swlabr
George Logan (or Dr. Evadne Hinge). Very different to Dame Edna and Lily Savage but now the third part of a recent terminal trilogy. RIP https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-65667911.amp

They were one of my late Dad's favour acts, along with Spike Milligan, they always made him smile and even laugh on occasions.
