Am I being dim or is he wanting to pay for his own security but not being allowed to? I’d have thought this is exactly the sort of independence and lack of burden on the taxpayer people want.
Not quite. I didn't understand either. It seems he wants to pay our police for security. Not a private firm The police do not want rich people buying security from them..... and depleting their limited resources either... Sets a precedent. He can hire his own security though

To be fair to the people’s princess her brother’s business went bust owing far more so we can’t expect her or her family to just keep giving up 0.1% of their vast unearned wealth for things like this. Eat the rich (as long as the agreed income threshold is above what I’m on).
