There's too much of it floating on twitter and it feeds itself. Self perpetuating rubbish, but retweeted, picked up by journos to make it look like they're in the know so put out again, picked up by fans or groups who tweet it as it's come from a journo "so must be true", to be picked up again, re tweeted by journos etc. etc .... and infinitum. Chuck in a few mischief makers, and there you go, we have a feeding frenzy. Since KLD first got interested in us, news coming out about us, starting with the take over and including transfers, has been very restricted. It's not like before, where stuff could pour out of us like a sieve, which is great. The flip side is that the club don't comment much, even to kill off stupid rumours, but it leaves a vacuum and lies, mistakes, half truths can be blown out of proportion and recycled. Even truths can be twisted by Chinese whispers. Look at when Johnson went, the club commented on nothing about his successor, all the stories came from the other sides, including Patrick Kisnorbo in Australia being lined up, yet in the end we ended up with Alex Neil. Personally, I'll keep an open mind until the club say something officially about it, however long it will be. I do hope Mowbray stays, however, but if the club have identified someone better, I'll back their judgement.
I will after half a season or more, not before, unless we are 6th or above by Xmas, if not happy to see Speakman’s head go along with Mowbrays.
There was a tweet that Macca responded to from a lad saying Mowbray was gone and announcement to be made at 6pm. I'll choose to call it bullshit but then again, I thought that when Neil was first linked to Stoke and that escalated pretty quickly.
Nah, we can't lose Speakman. I don't see us having the success we've had and signing the players we have without him. We certainly wouldn't be getting Bellingham.
Might be a slip but this news story just published talks about Tony Mowbrays side going to friendlies in July…. the club are smart enough to not issue this with those words unintentionally… https://safc.com/news/team-news/2023/may/south-shields-and-gateshead-fixtures-confirmed
He will be here. I can imagine the club had explored contingencies a couple of months ago. Having got to the playoffs without all of those key players, and playing a brand of football, they will have put those contingency plans on the back burner. These stories are just rehashing what might have been a thought process previously.
I have to say I’ll be saddened to see him go, he’s a great fit at the minute and stability is needed imo. I can see the flip side of potentially missing out on someone as well mind.
Won the title in his first season. Sounds good until you realise RB Salzburg have won the title for the last 9 years. Still shows how far we have come to be even linked with someone so highly rated.
I read a write up from Sports Illustrated a few days ago and although he is guaranteed to win the league there, it's the fact he got them to the knock out stages of the Champions League for the first time ever this season and his brand of football is supposed to be right up our street ATM. Of the ones mentioned, if TM does go and he comes in, then it'll soften the blow a little bit for me. Farioli seems good as well from what I've read since he was linked but something puts me off Struber.
He seems to get some reliable info. Mind you Someone once told me he knew a lad who's bollox were so big he had to carry them around in a wheel barrow. Turned out not to be true.
Agree I don't want Struber but Jaissle seems a good shout lots of experience coaching young kids as well
