That's true. He's playing the game with cheat mode on to allow unlimited funds...

... But be that as it may, we have seen other managers with ludicrous amount of money fail... Including city managers before Pep. Managers at Chelsea. Managers at United. Managers at PSG (ok, they win french league but despite the most money of all, they still flop in Europe).

It's hard to rate Pep accurately because he has so much more money, so what he has accomplished will always be seen as less than someone who built a team on limited resources. But to me what makes Pep up there is consistency. He's consistently achieved what you would expect of someone with so much money whereas others have faltered.

Greatest of all time? No, can never have that title because he's never had the right challenge, but, very good manager... I think he's earned that.

All that shows is that he's very good at spending other people's money - my ex-wife could do that. :)
Seriously, the rest of your post is expressing an opinion - there's nothing wrong with that of course, we're all entitled to do it, and it's a valid opinion.
My point is that the evidence required for an objective value judgement simply doesn't exist, because of the nature of the thing under discussion.
So opinions will vary - there are those that admire him and think he's better than most, and there are those that think he's just benefitting from an unfair advantage, and there's a spectrum of opinions in between.
I always try to draw conclusions based on evidence and I can't do that here - there are just too many variables.

For what it's worth, I think the drunken old bastard Fergie is way ahead of anyone else. I didn't like his attitude or his methods, but there can be no doubt he got the job done, and he was the crucial factor in Man U's PL success.

Is it not all opinion all the way around from everyone? There is no way to objectively measure greatest manager.

The simplest way is to look at trophies won but that doesn't tell the whole story for all the reasons already listed, money availability, position a team is already in when new manager arrives etc etc.

Yet being a player is? Messi has played with far better players than most players so will also look better. Easier to score 70 goals a season playing for Barca with xavi iniesta behind you than Fred and mctomminy.

Guardiola manages against the best managers in the world and often beats them.

The best players play for the best teams. The best managers manage them.

That’s helpful for discussion… especially on a subject that is 100% opinions and there is no wrong or eighth answer

The difference is, drop messi into any team and he's still mercurial. He'd be a superstar if he played for runcorn.

Take peps money off him, the ability to just sign who he wanted and if it doesn't work out, discard and sign someone else and he's suddenly not so great.

Imagine the hilarity of no more transfers, no more academy's.

You got your squad through the age old method of picking numbers.

We'd soon find the best manager then.

To a far greater extent, yes.
You could argue that Messi standing out in a great team only enhances his reputation. If you'd like to argue that Messi might possibly be no more a player than many others and it's just down to the team he's in then give it a go.

Every post doesn't have to be an in depth analysis. You could have just accepted that my post was me disagreeing with everything you said or seen it as an invitation for you to ask why I said it. There are lots of ways for discussions to go without writing a monologue.

    spot on.

The league is littered with managers who struggled with expensive players. Does anyone really believe that Arteta’s achievement was greater than Pep’s just because they challenged for the title for some of the season?

Manchester City have lodged legal challenges against the Premier League’s 115 charges, disputing the involvement of the barrister who is in charge of the disciplinary process because he is an Arsenal fan.

The case could also take up to four years to be resolved.

As close as it was and Arteta, down to the wire and Arteta's lower resources available. Yes. To me as a.manager he is better THIS YEAR (in the league).

I don't think he's a better manager in general, but he's done better this season.

They seem to be getting slower so could be five or six years for Everton

Pep is clearly a very good manager but he'll never be considered the best because his achievements are tainted

IMO CIty are demonstrating every part of their arsenal here.

It should be crystal form the premier league side based on 14 voting at next meeting. Expulsion is the punishment.

if city want to take the most severe actions to avoid punishment then the eventual punishment must be the most severe possible.

they should be actually under a transfer embargo until its heard as well just to avoid these antics

As for everton...well if the 5 clubs actually sue that will be that for the premier league and everton.
