Doubt this rumour has any legs but I have heard Ole Gunnar Solskjær as next manager. Would not be particularly excited if that did happen
Something I have heard from a friend who said that is what they had heard from someone who works for Saints. It did come with caveat of “not saying I am in the know or that my friend is but…” I have no idea who the friend is or what they do so take it with a large pinch of salt.
Fair play, I mean that would be completely left field to say the least. Be surprised If a guy who managed united wanted to come here tbf.
Out of interest, what have you heard about Martin? I've only read mostly negative things on fan forums, and yet the media seems to be building him up. Quite a contrast. Re: Solskjaer. He's been managing for over 10 years, so he's more experienced than the other ex-players being linked. Also, a 2nd place and a 3rd with Utd over the last few seasons is not to be sniffed at. Poisoned chalice that it seems to be these days. Also, a Europa final. Wouldn't be against it.
I would (be against Solskjaer). Just don’t like him as a personality. Find him a smug little weasal. Arrogant, and never gives the other teams credit. Vastly overestimates his ability. He probably speaks as highly of me too lol.
I'm kind of 'meh' about him, but I fear there'll be doubts about whomever we end up employing. I can't get excited by Russell Martin, for instance.
Adam Armstrong the latest to say he wants to stay for next season. Good lad. I know a lot of people think he's ****, but I still think there's a certain manager and tactics out there that could get the best out of him. Also, the more that stay, the more encouraged those who are unsure might be to commit too.
TBF it's a no brainer for Armstrong as no PL club will want him and Saints will be one of the biggest clubs in the Championship.
I tend to agree on AA. I do feel somewhere there is a good striker in there. Maybe he needs a season back in the Championship with us to find his mojo. He strikes me as a confidence player - and by that confidence from the man in charge not necessarily what he is currently doing on the pitch.
Hang on, wasn't it Solsjkaer who recommended Forren (https://www.independent.co.uk/sport...fluenced-switch-to-southampton-8470951.html)? I'm not sure what he'd be like as a manager but he wouldn't improve our recruitment
Recommended Haaland to Man Utd as well (they turned it down, but that's on them). Little bit hit and miss on his judgement clearly
Hold on, Sunderland think they can get Jaissle? What world are we in? If it's a world where he'd come to a Championship club, we should be all over that!
I mean, I really, really want to punch Rasmus anyhow, but if he wasn't all over that and there's any truth to it, I'll punch him until my hand falls off.
I’d personally get rid of AA if possible. He has very little quality, other than being able to run quite quickly. He’s had one good season in the Champ with stupid shooting numbers, doesn’t suggest that’s anything but an outlier to me. His confidence is also dead and it’s quite unusual for a player to be able to find their mojo again at the same club. Think it’s best for everyone if he moved on.
I agree to some extent, he just doesn't seem to have any intelligence or finesse to his game apart from getting his head down and attempting to shoot.
