Smug made a comment about posters on the boris thread yesterday just after 6pm. I replied to his post advising in my eyes it was a tad OTT and we could edit out the poor taste comments. One of the said posters liked my suggestion and a few minutes later Smug got barred for a week. Seems a bit harsh in my eyes that one of our main contributors is dealt with in such a draconian oppressive, if not vindictive, way?

I'd like to sign this petition to the Mods, reinstate Smug asp.

Does anyone else agree?

He wasn't banned for anything he did. He was banned because he jokingly said he'd rather be banned than change it and brb thought it would be funny to call him out on it. It wasn't really.

What he said wasn't words I'd have chosen but they're not even close to the type of language and insults that get flown about on this forum elsewhere.

I try to distance myself from arguments and pile-ons, but in my opinion there was nothing wrong with what Smug posted and can only think the ban was a result of a complaint, if so the complainant(s) need to grow a pair.

I vote to request that the ban is rescinded prior to this evening’s game.

We all get a bit argumentative on that thread at times, certainly I do. Bloody politics does that. I thought Smugs comment was OTT, and I didnt like it personally. That said I would happily see him back today for the match and beyond. He is a good poster on here, and I know what he does for others re tickets and travel etc. The ban seemed to come in very quick, but I am no mod and dont kmow the rules, so dont want to be too critical there either. Anyway, massive game for us all today, lets forget it and get him back amongst us where he belongs.

Well said marra

I'd need to see what was actually said first.

I don't bother interacting with him any more so it's no loss or gain to me, but turning the board into a free-for-some without any consequences for offensive language or behaviour is not a road we should be going down.

I think Smugs reply to my comment is still visible in the boris thread 6.20ish

I agree context is important however an initial warning would have sufficed, someone from the main board swooping in and banning an account is wrong. I also took offence with some comments, hence my rant before Smug added his comments, but not worth a complaint or a ban.

I agree, it seems like a bit of a knee jerk reaction from BRB, moderating should be left to the mods. Oops, may have just got myself a ban?

I know what you've been trying to imply but I never asked for Smug to be banned.

What I will say is that people were banned from this board and regular posters left of their own free will because the word 'Mong' was used.

Smug called me and Exile, child molesters. Same rules should apply for everyone. I personally think that's worse than the other word.

The same goes with suggesting people are racists however and I think thats the issue, it is designed to deliberately wind people up and get a reaction...which is exactly what happened. Both posts should have been edited and let that be it.

I've said enough on this matter though.

I was using Smugs words <laugh>

Not verbatim.
