His experience would be invaluable and there's no questioning his finishing ability, but that signing for me would have a hint of Dele Adebola about it.
Heard this morning we're talking to Sonny Bradley's people about a return. Interesting move, Derby also interested and he'd get more game time there, but the chance to return home might be appealing and his experience would be useful with us having a younger backline.
Where'd we finish that season? Maybe, but maybe he would add some much needed experience to turn draws into wins at the death, or see off tough opposition. We can do better as the convict said, but he would improve the squad as it is now. FACT. Who are we to turn our nose up at sharp when we are carrying tyler smith around.
I don't think Bradley was injured, he just fell out of favour and Luton had other options, but when Bell got injured - Bradley was back in the team to replace him. If he does sign for us then the writing is on the wall for Greaves.
I've heard the same, not exactly the kind of signing to help us push top 6, but if he's very cheap and happy to be only called upon in an emergency then maybe worth while...... Socks on and pulled all the way up
Bradley would be a strange one. Make more sense to sign a right-footed centre-half unless Bradley signing means we’re allowing Greaves to go.
I just cannot see Maka and Greaves fighting out for the left sided centre half spot this coming season. We are bringing in a new left back and Rosey seems to favour Maka at centre half over Greaves. I have a feeling Acun may cash in on Greaves and spend cash on striker options.
Hmm fair point, but if we are serious about challenging then we need quality in depth. Not sure replacing Greaves with Bradley gives us that to the same level. I suppose it will all come down to money and FFP etc
It’s more for cover I presume. We’ve been lucky that our CB’s have been alright in terms of injury, but behind them was the ever hanging ghost of Figs (who must be going in Summer unless he becomes Baresi in pre season). Smith will no doubt go out on loan and if Taylor is as good as the hype, so will he, leaving 3 CBs. It makes sense to have somebody who could step straight in if injury happened and is already first team quality.
The back line has had 2 seasons at this level now, at what point do they become experienced? Christie is the experienced head for me, and Darlow if he’s brought back. No need for players like Bradley coming in to train and pick up a wage
I'd say all our back line are experienced now, even if darlow doesn't come in, you can't say Ingram isn't an experienced head ( he has more career games then darlow ). Coyle is experienced, as you said....they all are. Bradley isn't a signing that makes sense ( on the face of it )
If Smith goes on loan he might as well go on a permanent, if he doesn’t get his opportunity here this season he never will. And just to add to that, if he was Grimsby’s own highly rated young centre half that we were looking at signing on a permanent we’d be looking at that as an exciting and progressive depth option so for me it makes sense to bring him into the squad.
