I had a great night's sleep. Just woke up and saw the score. It sounds like from what I have read, that the Saints players where as relaxed as me, not scrapping and fighting to stay in the league! What a s**t show!
The wheels have come off of the bike, we have to pick up the pieces, walk away and try to put everything back together. For us the Premiership is dead, long live the Championship (actually, not too long for us I hope, as long as the only way is up).
I think Saints supporters rate JWP higher than he actually is. I'm not saying this because we've just got relegated, I've always thought it. I will though, always remember this, one of the best you will ever see. https://gifs.com/gif/79Yv51
What a mess. All the great work done by Marcus Liebheer as owner and Nicola Cortese as the executor has been completely dismantled over the last few years and finally ended now. Every facet of the club is a complete mess at present.
Agree with this and that's his best free kick for me. Not even close either. The one sad thing about relegation is him breaking the Prem FK for another club. Hopefully he can get one in these last two games to at least equal it.
Yes, be careful. I recall an early game at Preston just after the 05 relegation. 'Here for a season, we're only here for a season' was the song. It was alamost true as we flirted with relegation at the end of the season! For those who may have forgotten Championship and League One wasn't that bad, but I'm glad it was short-lived. Getting relegated is ****. Staying relegated is another story - ask Oldham, Wigan, and others.
I can neither confirm nor deny this . I can however confirm that there was a “ SUBSTANCE “ on the screen that is taking ages to clean off .
I do not feel that this relegation is anywhere as near as emotional as the last time. We have been woeful all season and my feeling is that we have got exactly what we deserved. Watching the match this afternoon was a very detached experienced. The ground seemed devoid of atmosphere and the players never seemed to believe that the result would be anything other than a home defeat. There is nothing tragic or unlucky about what has happened this afternoon. The directors seemed to have convinced themselves that they knew how to take the club forward and full of confidence although they have proved to be inept and incapable of running a football club at this level. Three manager have been employed this season with Hassenutl being the pick of the bunch yet still in a position nearly six months after he had effectively been exhausted and void of ideas as to how to take the club forward. Nathan Jones' appointment squandered the opportunity to recover the season and oversaw a transfer window which saw a group of players who ultimately played little part in the season post-January. Coupled with that, the appointment of Selles seemed tacit recognition that we were doomed and cofirmation that the management of the club had lost the confidence of those within the inner workings of the team who actually knew something about football. I am not sure that I agree with Adam Blackmore's perception that this filtered down to the playing staff and , although I really struggle to understand arhhhh what arrhhh Jo Tessum is aghhhhhhhhhhhhhh trying to say in the co-commentary, the point he seemed to be stressing is that the squad had too many players who are not Premieship quality. The best two players today were Bednarek and KWP. As for the others, there were too many passengers and a disjointed approach to coaching in the first half where the wingers sat too deep leaving Big Paul's role as somewhat pointless in the absence of crosses. I think we have had the best of JWP and am not convinced that he would interest a club like Villa. I cannot see JWP's absence of presence in open play appealing to Emery. If I an honest, we should have sold him two seasons ago. I cannot see him being worth more than £10-15 mill on his current form. I think he will end up at a lower / mid-table club like Everton, West Ham or Fulham. Many of his team mates seem to have no interest in the club and I am not convinced we will be able to offload as many as most people in here would wish for. As I said previously., about 75-80% of this bloated squad will not be here next season. I think it is going to be a shock to discover the level of football most of them will be playing in 2023/24 as I do not see that many finding new employers in the PL. All in all, I am not too upset about being relegated as it is fully deserved. I just hope lessons have been learned and someone comes in over the summer to fix the damage that SR have done. I do not feel that the necessary re-building process can behind without a new broom coming in and totally sweeping out the club and beginning again.
