Hard to disagree. It’s absolutely incredible that we’ve managed to get worse than we were under his last 6 months. But we managed it
This is a not unexpected response: Reporter: So, Ruben, you're managing a club that is on the verge of relegation. What do you plan to do? Selles: Well, I'm clearly rubbish at my job, so I'm waiting to be pushed out, just so that I'll get a big fat payoff OR Selles: I care deeply about this club, and I want to continue managing the first team, even if we're relegated
They appointed Nathan Jones, so they don’t care at all what the fans think. And they might be that stupid…but ignoring the fans is actually the right attitude. You wouldn’t want a board to pander to the fans. You want them to be confident in their decisions. However so far their decision making has been abysmal and they have to earn some trust. If they can explain exactly why Selles is the right man; then they can try and earn some trust. But they couldn’t explain NJ, they can’t explain Selles and they haven’t proven they understand the game so far
I wonder what the criteria are for managerial football sucess, because if Selles is in demand by anyone other than polo neck jumper manufacturers, then it must actually be the easiest job in the world. Sammy Saint could stand in the technical area looking moody for 90 minutes and we wouldn't be any worse.
I cannot see Selles being here next season and a root and branch investigation into this season should see alot of the executives behind these decisions being moved on too. I think whoever comes in is likely to be unknown but I would be surprised if Selles is involved in any form. Not really seen that he is an improvement as either a coach or manager.
To be fair to Selles, and the clubs supposedly interested…if you ignore all the games we’ve lost and played **** under him and just focus on the few good performances and results, he’s pretty ****ing good.
I'd like to think we'd be doing better with Sammy Saint. Because he'd presumably be too busy waving to the crowd, to bother making weird-ass subs.
Should be gone now. 14 games, 2 Wins, 3 Draws and 9 defeqts. 9 Bloody points. Another massive error from SR giving him the job after beating the worse Chelsea team in years and because the players liked him. Please. Oh, and lost to Grimsby in the cup.
To be fair to Selles, he was set up to fail. Two managers with more experience couldn't do any better so he shouldn't be condemned for failing. He took over when the damage had already been done. He has made a lot of mistakes but there are so many problems on and off the pitch which he didn't have the experience to fix. He was no more a sticky plaster over an amputation.
