    Took the words from me!

I thought they'd have made em do it three years ago tbh. All the way back when they got Bailed out.

The BBC only say they 'understand' the deal has ended. They could have got it wrong I suppose. Highly unlikely though.

They may release a statement today. Hoping an England International may take the spotlight off them, if there is too be bad news. Such as, Sports Direct to be on the shirts.

Anyone else think that Ashley might have engineered this to get us all to buy ANOTHER shirt?

All they're saying is that instead of seeing out the full four years of the deal, Northern Rock are taking the option of getting out early, which is the end of this season, not the 2013-14 season. Bearing in mind they are government subsidised as part of their bail out I'd imagine the financial reasons are that the government aren't willing to pay a football club sponsorship deal in top of upholding NR responsibilities to their customers.

It is completely against FA rules to change your shirt mid way through a season.

There's some sort of fair play rule stopping clubs bringing out a new shirt every season but I'm sure MA will argue the fact Northern Rock ended the agreement not Newcastle so his hands are tied. Similar to when XL went bust and West Ham had no sponsor, He'll just say I'll slap a SD logo on til the end of the season and not sell them in the club shops. The Puma shirts will be pre made so won't need much time to slap a logo on, unlike redesigning a new one. As for sponsors, Everton are with Chang Beer. If his aim is to enhance his business in the far east then a company from those parts would be likely. China's economy is booming. I'm no advertising mogul but O2 is a white logo which will look **** on black and white stripes; unless they go all apple with rainbow pop colour. Plus they have an 02 Arena as their flagship venue.

Not completely...West Ham, and West Brom have both tid themselves of sponsors mid season.

Technically wasn't it renewed January 2010? 4 years taking it to January 2014. 2 years early meaning it will end January 2012? Possibly

Never gave that a thought! Cant see o2 being the sponsors anyway. I think, the best option would either to go for somewhere in the US, Japan or China. Thats where the money seems to be these days.

I'd love for us to be sponsored by Apple!

O2 is white or blue, plus when Arsenal had it on one of their shirts it was gold. Blue or gold would be fine. Gold would look class in fact.

Plus didn't we have BLUE northern rock writing on one of the home shirts? And that logo is primarily white.

Nah, why would someone buy a shirt, simply down to the sponsor being different? Well, obviously some people would. But not enough to warrant Ashley shelling out loads of dollar getting new sponsors in, just to earn a few grand from shirt sales.

It'd look alright as a sponsor on the shirt though haha <laugh>

It was bearable ha. Dragged myself out of bed. Back in Manchester and sat down doing nothing now haha <laugh> Although the sun is out, might have to make the most of it...

    How about you?

Could we have Sports Direct as our sponsor? Would it not go against the financial fair player rules to have your own owners company as the shirt sponsor? Otherwise Citehs owners would just sponsor their shirt for a billion £s and bypass the rules.

Could the club or MA survive with the loss of revenue from shirt sponsors? Just things to think about, I doubt Sports Direct will be our shirt sponsor.

Granted, it would look good on the shirts. But nothing more!

Haha. congratulations! Sun is out here too, might have to attempt to leave the house at some point. Even if it is to pick up Stella from Morrisons. At least ive done something.
