If Grant Holt was around back then both wars would have been over in a day <ok>

Wasn't Gary Holt in the forces?

I know Guy Whittingham was as was another pompey striker, whose name escapes me

My Son is at Winchester as an instructor at the moment before Afghanistan again and he works alongside John Ruddy's best mate Phil. Mind you my Son is crap at football! Good at fishing though.
However, we shouldn't forget all the Armed Services who love and watch football. And if any Extremist Muslim or sympathiser wants to burn a poppy then I would quite happily burn them instead of the poppy.

Great post, and I'd say football has a lot to do for our armed forces. Help for Heroes in particular is very involved with football and you'll often see soldiers or former soldiers at the kick-offs at cup finals. And why not? We're all proud of the work our armed forces do.

<laugh> Love it! I would like to see today's Premiership players go to war in comparison to those in Afghanistan today, and in particular, the footballers during the wards. Ashley Cole, Tevez and Terry would stop being idiots!

Brighton had a keeper a few years back, Michelle (giggle) Kuipers, I think I'm right in saying he was a Marine for somewhere.
