Leeds Utd v Newcastle Utd
Saturday 13th [email protected] | Elland Road

Newcastle and Leeds battle it out for three points on Saturday lunchtime knowing, whatever the result, it could have a massive impact on both their futures, for very different reasons. Leeds could go three places, and a point clear of the drop zone (depending other results go their way), whilst the Geordies would go five points clear (at least temporarily) of Manchester Utd in fourth place.

The two teams last met on New Year's Eve, where Leeds earnt a respectable 0-0 draw at St James' Park (one of only five clean sheets all season). With thirteen goals from their previous four games, Newcastle have found their striking boots at the worst possible time for Leeds. Ironically, it was Newcastle that saved Leeds skin on the final day of last season by beating Burnley 2-1, at Turf Moor.

Leeds have no new injury worries. Skipper Liam Cooper is carrying a knock, and has a 50/50 chance of starting. Tyler Adams, Luis Sinisterra and Stuart Dallas are ruled out.

The visitors will be without Sean Longstaff (ankle), Jamaal Lascelles (calf), Emil Krafth (knee) and Ryan Fraser (other). Brazilian ace Joelinton has an ankle injury, and faces a late fitness test.

Well he might not have been everyone's choice for head honcho but the big fella has stated in his pre match presser that our squad depth isn't really that great overall and needs some attention, well said big Sammy at least we have someone to speak frankly for once...bravo <applause>...now let's do the barcodes <cheers>

If we get a bit of luck we could get a point here. More likely we lose though.

I think we'll beat West Ham though. Its very winnable, especially if they still have a competitive game in Europe before hand. By that I mean they don't win the first leg by 4 or 5 and can rest players 2nd leg.

Personally I don’t get the level of stick he’s getting. Are we that good that we are way above the level of a manager like him. So what if he’s forced to play long ball to make us competitive because we’re **** if he can get results

Big Sam talks a lot of sense and certainly knows how to play the managerial game, whether he'll be able to bring positive results we're about to find out. Think we'll see a more front foot performance this week with high energy and lot's of balls played into their half to force them back, then we'll try to pick up the bits and pieces and go from there.

Looking forward to seeing how we get on <ok>

Not expecting much from tomorrow. Just heard the statistic that we have won three games in the last twenty-two so no idea why we think we’ll get seven points from nine. Have we even had back to back league wins this season?

Newcastle away at the bottom 6 so far...
Southampton 1-4 Newcastle
Leicester 0-3 Newcastle
Forest 1-2 Newcastle
West Ham 1-5 Newcastle
Everton 1-4 Newcastle

Positives
*We'll probably score
*Needed a stoppage time penalty at Forest
*They drew with the teams immediately above (Palace, Bournemouth & Wolves)...we're in a false position <laugh>

I've already said we need nine out of nine but as it is out of our hands, it would be typical of those around us to do the same!
