I go along with that , Cirkin was brutally assaulted scoring a vital goal at Milwall , and showed tremendous courage on his comeback by scoring a similar header in a match winning performance at West Brom. The freak accident at Preston looks bad , and watching the re-play it looked like he knew it, and I will be over the moon if we see him again before the season is out. The only good news on that front is that we have a bit of cover in the squad, and only hopefully 3 games to go. OaU
On the subject of injuries , while pleased to see that Duncan Watmore looks fine these days , it would have been rubbing salt into the wounds if he had been the one to fire Millwall into the playoffs, as It looked very likely to be the case at half time on Monday, but thankfully it was not. OaU
Yeah watching his goals go in was an equal case of nice one Duncan and ****s sake Duncan. Amazing how well it worked out for us but we have also made our own luck of course. Lot of steel in our team they've showed it frequently this season.
Indeed we have. Can’t say we don’t deserve to be where we are. Massive injury list most of the season. No strikers available most of the season. Youngest side in the division (probably in all 4). And probably somewhere in the region of 10 goals better than any nominated for the goal of the season by the EFL!!
Hendrie was right about everything apart from the home form being key. I share his confidence that we will be back in the Premier League soon. We're on a massive upward curve and will improve again next season, no matter which division we are in.
Brilliant going forward, a bit iffy defensively as Tony has more tactfully reffered too but he still had the confidence to play him even after the penalty incident , this proves to me that he is the best man for the job going forward, Ekwah was my man of the match a few games ago, he is so silky smooth on the ball, and the comparison to Cess Fabregas made by an earlier poster is close to the mark, we somehow have to accommodate Neil, Michut and Ekwah in there somewhere and if anyone can do it it will be our current manager. OaU OaU ? i am very superstitious hence sticking to this signature until the season is out .
I reckon we could get away with signing Michut and him and Ekwah both being happy to fight it out to partner Neil. Could well play all three at times too. Add another Evans type experienced head who's happy not to play every game and it's a good mix.
I agree mate. He looked liked Bambi on ice when he first arrived, but has grown into a very useful looking footballer. I'm not sure which midfield role would suit him best, but the 4 players we've got, Evans, Neil, Ekwah and hopefully Michut are all reliable and the last 3 are still learning their trade. I hope we can develop one of them into the 10 role because I don't think Pritch will be here much more than 1 season. If we can't go with what we've got in that position, then we need to bring someone in. I'm sure Joffy would be ideal in the Championship, but I feel we would need better in the Premier.
I could see Clarke, Roberts and Amad causing a lot of PL teams problems, especially with Ross Stewart ahead of them. Lots of "ifs" in that statement though - we've been here before with loan players
Such a great goal, lovely build up and he has the vision to get into space, then bang, a fantastic pass to release him - but cutting back inside to use the defenders as a screen to unsight their keeper was a touch of brilliance!
I've had a few messages so it looks that way, bottom right corner antagonising the Preston Ultras I think Mowbray had to play him to find out a few things then rest him, coach him and send him back out ... ... like a racing car where you test, tune and try again. Really makes you wonder what his previous coaches were doing with him.
We all know and the defence and keeper know that he's going to cut inside and find the bottom corner, but they seem unable to stop him. Yes it doesn't work all the time, he wouldn't be human if it did but defenders must be Bricking it when he attacks them at speed. Similar to Pat Roberts, but he used more guile and less speed to obtain the same result. Isn't that 16 goals between them this season, not bad for wingers.
Not sure if this is the right thread but something I noticed in the last couple of games was what a great job the lads did keeping corners, and free kicks in our half, to an absolute minimum. Don't think this was accidental and contributed hugely to our lack of height not costing us. Takes terrific composure and concentration when the opposition are no doubt looking for any excuse to win either and perhaps their whole game plan based around it. 3 corners concede across both matches resulting in 2 goals so a sound plan Maybe lost in all the silky skills but two sides to every coin of course!
