Just seen this bit. Not one scouser has ever mentioned this. It happened all over the country because of communist, violent riots that were happening. Keep making stuff up though
I wouldn’t boo, neither would I burn a flag, but I don’t feel any allegiance either. I don’t personally see the relevance of either, but wouldn’t disrespect them, or criticise others for having a different point of view to mine. I really don’t get why people are so angry with others holding a different opinion to theirs, just be grateful we live in a society where we can live side by side with people of differing opinions. The only exception to the rule obviously is gasheads, they’re just a bunch of inbred muppets
I don't expect to change your opinion - or the booers - and you won't change mine - but I don't think that you understand what I'm actually upset about. If the booing was about Churchill then how pathetic. Someone ought to tell them that he died quite a few years before most of the booers were even born (perhaps they haven't been to school). They may as well boo the anthem because of Judge Jeffries, the Witchfinder General, Henry VIII or Cromwell. They were bad but powerful people too - to EVERYONE not just people from Liverpool.. Guess what? There have been successive different governments since then and they've all done good and bad in different measures. That's life in a democracy. Like (or hate) the monarchy if you will, but the SONG is our anthem. MAYBE the song should be changed(?) but for now its our anthem - the song which represents the nation. I don't know how much of this thread you've read. I don't even care really, but if you HAD read the whole thread then you would understand that I, personally am not entirely comfortable with the monarchy. I was even a staunch republican for a while in my younger years. However, you are clearly allowing your own personal hatred of the monarchy to get in the way of truth too; Prince Charles has refused his civil-list subsidies (to which he was entitled to according to the constitution) back in the 1990s and VOLUNTEERED tax on his Duchy of Cornwall estate out of conscience (as a senior royal he was also tax-exempt). He is certainly very rich from inherited wealth - which you are entitled to object to - but your comment about him not paying tax which you clearly believed and stated as fact is simply WRONG. He's probably paid more tax in one month than many have in their entire lives. As for your suggestion that respecting our flag makes anyone fascist - really? How naive. You sound like a certain Mr. Putin - who you'll probably be pleased that he's rampaging around his neighbour trying to root the ‘fascists’ like us out of the Ukraine. Utter nonsense.
Tony Benn house here in Victoria street (check that name??) is displaying flags. Union Jack and LGBT thing. This a and National front very quickly cos like I said thats really all thing?
