So King has been grounded for a month?? How bloody ridiculous. What on earth has made you come to this decision??
So we are expected to continue to tolerate the inane whines about this supposed red shirt biases are we? So we are expected to continue to accept the good debates being interrupted by Billy and his silly anti Levy rants are we? Yet you find King’s questioning of certain posters continued boring agendas worthy of a ban?
Awful and conceited arrogance from you mods, Shame on all three of you.

The ban was imposed because of a personal attack on Vimhawk. It has nothing to do with opinions or red shirts or Billy. We are not here to censor opinions we might not like. If you find people boring then use the ignore facitlty. If you are not happy with the board then you can bring that to our attention at any time.

The single biggest factor has to be the team's form and abysmal style of football. Two salient points:
    1) This board's members go back a long, long way now. Some far longer than a decade. In that entire time, we had very few incidents that warranted Mods making executive decisions. There was the spot of bother with Ensil's left bollock and then the drama with DGC or whoever they were, but that was it. Even in HIAG's wummery heyday there were very few clashes.
    2) The only thing we know for certain is a common denominator is the fact that we are all passionate lifelong(suffering) Spurs fans. That is the great unifying magic of sport. It brings together different people from all different walks of life and, thanks to an abstract, meaningless bit of shared fun, they can find common ground.

However, when cracks start to appear in #2, as they have done over the past 4-5 years, it is inevitable that the very thing we are all commonly passionate about will be put across with more passion and force than perhaps we'd intended, which in turn leads to things sometimes getting personal, which in turn leads to open clashes, and we forget about #1.

I realised a few months ago that our board was showing the same signs of decline in terms of mood and engagement as the Arsenal board did in Wenger's latter years. I reflected on my own role in that decline, especially my probably dreaded acerbic essays laying in to all and sundry. So I made a conscious effort to scale that back and try to post the funny or at least ironic side of things. Like the ridiculous page-long exchange finding things that rhymed with 'Will Still' while inside we may have all been itching to lay into the club for clearly having no plan (again) when we sacked Conte. It helped and helps enormously.

One crucial difference between our board and Arsenal's before it went to pot (probably why Brunel spends so much time on here, it's the only place he can get a decent discussion) is that whereas their Mods (Ponkie in particular) were actually very much part of the problem, ours - although they don't necessarily always make the best decision - are more concerned with keeping things civil than their personal opinions being right, which is precisely what being a Mod is all about and probably item one on the job description, followed by waxing BRB's back hair once a month.

I firmly believe that when (if) results and performances improve, most of these issues will resolve themselves. I don't think anyone on here logs on looking for a fight, or to put someone else down. But when times are tough and passions are high, it is both common and natural for things to occasionally spill over. If anything, it is a credit to the members on here that despite a wretched run of form, we've only had a handful of similar incidents, if that.

Anyway in brief, damn the lot of you.

As a visitor I have to say I have always been "put up with :bandit:" very fairly on here by the mods (I was told I wouldn't last a day on here by general board posters).
Now to add my view. King IMHO has done nothing wrong, he has a different opinion to another poster but as far as I can see has never been personally offensive. These forums are mainly populated by adults who know that some will disagree with them but are prepared to either argue their case or ignore the comments.
I like most of the posters on this board but one or two irritate me a little with their posting style.
Pretty sure I have let at least one of them know that whereby he shot me down and we moved on.

Long rambling post but the few words "I don't think King has done enough to deserve a ban" is what it boils down to.

With regards to our opinion on board moderation and changing anything, I think that kind of ties into myself and Power saying we felt the ban was a bit harsh - as that itself is commenting an opinion on a moderation decision that we perhaps didn’t quite agree with. As far as I can see (unless posts have been deleted?) what King said wasn’t a personal insult which is generally the line not to cross on here, just more a slight mockery on the refereeing bias agenda that Vim is known for, just as I’m known for being the “Anti-Winks” guy and have had many sarcastic comments thrown my way (which I’ve always found funny). Though I do appreciate King can come across quite blunt at times and that might not help any issue(s).

In terms of moderation in general, I’d always advise those who perhaps have a dislike for any individual to simply stick them on ignore, it’d surely make their experience far better on here and we can avoid situations where someone has to get a ban. I’ve never had to do that myself on Not606 but I’ve got about 7,000 blocked on Twitter as it’s tedious at times filtering through the nonsense to find the good stuff, especially Spurs related content.

modding is separate to opinions regarding whatever may be discussed

Mods are posters too and have opinions, stances and disagreements

They may argue as passionately as anyone else

That’s not a reflection of their modding

Rarely anyone gets banned here…even the wums get protection from our mods because they are fair mods.

if it’s a case of one rule for one and one for others then there is a discussion to be had.

Not sure what’s going on with King tbh but I hope it resolved as I think he’s a top contributor in conversation

If you want to see corrupt modding then try me on the PL board

I’ll happily ban you and edit your posts for a bit of Bantz for the lads if they egg me on enough

As a visitor I have to be careful but must say there are some on here that would just not survive outside this board.
Still, the mods do a great job of looking after all but in this case I feel they have been harsh.
Maybe a PM to say back off a bit would have been more appropriate but then maybe that happened for all I know.

Surely that can’t be it? I saw those posts and there wasn’t anything to warrant King getting a ban.

Perhaps a post has been deleted and we’re all missing something?

Hard to know if there were deleted posts but there doesn't seem an obvious gap in the chatter.
