The change in the atmosphere at this club in the last 18 months is unbelievable. Walking out of the Reebok at 0-5 v Bolton there is not a cat in hells chance I would have believed we'd be 3 games from the PL a year or so later

A mate of mine reckons it's a fairly recent thing, only for the last 15 or so years. He reckons it's mostly based on jealousy towards Manchester and the way that's been redeveloped.

Thatchers government did have a policy of managed decline towards Liverpool, but their own councillors like Derek Hatton, and their corruption, negligence and incompetence made it worse. And there was a cover up over Hillsborough, it's been proved by law. But over the last 30 years money has poured into Liverpool, far more than in places like up here, Sheffield, the Potteries and so on. Liverpool was European capital of culture a few years back with big government support (beat Newcastle to it), and is even hosting Eurovision this weekend and there's the £5 billion Liverpool waters project going on now, the Albert docks were a UNESCO world heritage site, even "The Batman" was filmed there as a stand in for Gotham city. Yet they cry and moan as if they get screwed over all the time. That's why there's so little sympathy for them these days and what little us left is gradually shrinking.

Scousers can be best summed up as being like house cats. Act all aloof as if they are independent and don't need support from outside, treating everyone else as an inferior or a nuisance, yet are really totally reliant and dependent on the situation they are in (being part of the UK) and wouldn't last 5 minutes outside of it.

A great observation that reminds us we can smile that it’s them who exist in self destruction of sadness and bitterness whilst we have the dignity to live happily and contented

I just want to know is Ballard and Cirkin fit? I love Cirkin but hes so frustrating ffs, how much time does a young lad need to get injured and take weeks to recover from like his Concussion ffs. Alese is another one, and as much as i love them both i hope to see some changes next season in either their luck or lack of Roy Keane mentality and just feck it and play through the pain

Cirkin has been really unlucky. That concussion may have been frustrating for us as fans, but they (rightly) take no chances these days and let's not forget he got that concussion showing unbelievable bravery in winning us a point that contributed to our 6th place finish

I think a lot of these young lads pick up knocks because their bodies are still growing and developing

FWIW I think Cirkin is done for the season - there was talk that he left the ground in a protective boot on Monday. Ballard has a chance as long as he trains this week. Going to be a huge call, but our defence looks a lot different with him in it.....

We were on the right side of our end and various Sunderland were in their stand, odd bits of trouble. Just watched a Preston video, from the stand on the left, and there was trouble in there as well ...

... it'll be the same at Luton, some will find their way in.

We were in all of their sections for the Keane promotion game as you know.

Yeah I think Cirkin has just been unlucky, I don't think he's had the same injury twice. Always a risk when you put your body on the line like he does but it won't stop him doing it. Not the kind of player to be cautious about returning either he'll be wanting to play the minute he gets the all clear.
