There have been far more egregious examples of time wasting all season that have not been punished. I could not understand that call at all.
How is it that the "the best league in the world" has such a low bar for officiating? Another awful referee performance again today

he basically decided on any excuse to do anything he liked.

there was one where they went mad and there was a bit of a handbags over a corner and he blew up just as we put the ball in. predetermined that there was not going to be any criticism of him letting us have a goal, just blow up here and that was that.

toney went mad at him for not giving yet another flop on half way wide second half. he knew full well they would pump that in and he was never giving it. yet every time they flopped over in own half it was insta free.

do not read any anti lfc bias here. this was a pure and utter selfish refereeing performance to look out for no 1.

konate was marked out at ht by someone. I am very sure he was and Taylor was looking for anything to put him in the book. (he was obviously told the foul on tone first half was a yellow)

i mean he had ample opportunity to put konate off the pitch if he wanted to as a biased ref but again he is just minding himself and not being fair to anyone but himself. its utter selfishness.

I wish people would see what refs are doing and get the likes of dermot gallagher off the air and get someone who would really critique the refs based on them being fair and trying to run a game rather than being selfish ****s out to mind themselves.

Konate should have been booked for the first foul on the halfway line 100%. As you say he obviously then realised and used first chance to book him for kicking it away almost as the whistle was blown.

yet somehow didn’t boom gakpo for a clear yellow for the tackle.

As you say, I don’t think he was biased against lfc or anything. Think he was just horribly inconstant. He let some tougher challenges go, then anything that was up in the air was given as a foul.

It’s also amazing how few free kicks Salah gets. How many times the ball was played up to him and being grabbed and pulled but he just doesn’t go down so red doesn’t give them. On the other hand, Toney falls over and instant foul.

Decision that annoyed me was after he blew for a foul by VVD for simply heading the ball away, he then allowed their defender to climb all over the back of Salah less than two minutes later and gave nothing.

Salah gets hauled to the ground frequently and nothing is given.

Anyways, the good news is we cannot now finish lower than 8th - the lowest position we've had since we came back to the top tier.

Thing is he gets grabbed and pulled so often and he generally just stands there and puts his arms in the air as frustration as nothing is given. And people then moan at him when he exaggerates the falls… with not a hint of irony.

Had said it for years, foreign players have taken the blame for diving, but referees are a massive part of the problem by not giving fouls when people stay on their feet. They are telling players only way to get a foul is to fall over, and as most fouls don’t force porker to the ground naturally, they have to unnaturally fall and looks like a dive

Well 1 point = 7th if villa win all theirs so we are in Europe again imo.

I think we just need a little break now. the team looks tired to me. just the week to recharge.

for me there are a few issues.

    1. Jones is getting great praise now and all that is good. the problem he has always had and is still doing it is he just won't let a pass go quickly when it's needed. he will take extra touches until someone is on him rather than just get the ball moved. this is especially frustrating up top where he just needs to play it quick into salah for example. he waited until he was closed down and a chance to roll salah in behind was gone as the defender knocked the ball wide.

    2. missing finishes. I don't know why but hope gakpo and nunez improve. honestly gakpo should score all day at the 1 yard line there and he then got the ball intercepted and fired wide when it had to go across goal. nunez the same, great run and find then just doesn't make any contact. they are fairly much classic issues we've had for years with different players.

    3. alissons kicking. it's like he's got some issue, i don't know what it is but over the past couple of seasons he just looks so stiff kicking long and most of the time he seems to slip on the standing foot.

Jones has been good since come in. No coincidence he’s started the last 8 and our pick up in form also coincides with it as well as the new formation. He still has plenty to do in that role, but he’s at least putting the effort in, making tackles, getting close to force the ball backwards. Been refreshing to see from midfielder.

will he ever be a superstar in This team? Prob so not. But all teams need a good squad and he’s more than earned his right to be part of that squad and at the moment is probably first choice out of the midfield based on form.

I am normally the advocate for that sort of player
    Usually my favourites
Like the Legend that is Kuyt
However - I just don’t see it with Jones
    Maybe I am missing something
Or he possibly just rubs me up the wrong way
    Dunno

Decent win. Although it’d be good to take our chances and wrap these games up earlier, back to back 1-0 score lines will be so important for our confidence.

Let’s hope for some favourable results today and then onto the next one.

5 game match ban and Liverpool 40 points point deduction for Klopp not kissing Tierney's ring.

If we could find it - I have said that so many times of Taylor
I don’t think he is biased - he is ****
He gets plaudits for trying to let the game flow but he must be a nightmare for the players
His inconsistency leads games into chaos - he always loses control when the heat turns up.

players cannot know what his boundaries are because he doesn’t know himself
He makes it up as he goes along
    He is infuriating imho

I honestly don't think it's that really as I think he is just making called based on covering his own arse at all times

like when Brentford made a big song and dance over us having a corner when they wanted a free for a flop. he made his mind up he was blowing for anything.

robertson barely touched the ball then taylor blew and just pointed at vvd who was handled just as much as the other way around.

he makes decisions based on where the ball in and who the player is.

he didn't book konate til second half. picked his time knowing then there was no way he'd send him off.

he booked fabinho for half nothing. knowing again he'd let him off the rest of game.

    it's all for show.

get the number of cards about 2 or 3 per team max.

    avoid decisions.

don't let something you gave result in a game changing goal.

    etc etc

every Brighton player in their own half just about lay down and got a free. every one.

when they did the same in our half they didn't fare half as well.

we cannot say there was no contact on the frees they did get.
