What that also highlights is the the ridiculous scenario where the 2nd placed team is miles ahead of 3rd and 4th, but still has to go into a play off. Same goes for Sheffield Wednesday in L1. Maybe there should be a cut off of points difference or if they really want the money-making games, reduce it to a 3 v 4 play off but automatically meet 2 in a final game.
The National League play off system is fairer as the higher placed teams have an advantage. Notts County, who went toe to toe with Wrexham for the only automatic promotion place - and got over 100 points- needed a 97th minute equaliser v Boreham Wood to avoid elimination. Gone to extra time, still 2-2 at present. The play offs generate interest and revenue, but they are unfair.
I think 4th plays 7th at home and 5th v 6th. Then the winners are away to 2nd and 3rd The winners of those semi finals play for the promotion place with the highest placed team at home EDIT: Bromley equalise in the 10th minute of stoppage time ti take 3rd placed Chesterfield to extra time!
Would've been nice if the Saudis were just as keep to shoot at the keeper against us as they are against the Runners Looks like they used up all their finishing luck in 20 minutes
2022 - Notts County lose at home in the play offs to a 97th minute equaliser and a 119th minute winner. 2023 - Notts County win at home in the play offs with a 97th minute equaliser and a 119th minute winner.
Ok , but the beeb were making a big thing of Notts County getting a last minute winner when they were about 20 points ahead of 3rd Must be rule 357b coming into play
Yes it is. It was at the London Stadium last year. I thought Wrexham v Grimsby (at Wrexham) was the final last year- but that was the semi(great game 4-5).
