Surely for the majority of them they have become that good because of the coaching rather than they were that highly rated. At the time when Alli, Kane, Dier etc were playing out of their skin surely that was down to Poch improving them rather than them going off and training themselves to be that good?
City are 1.7th on average in revenue over the Guardiola years. Their average league position is 1.4. Good but probably more to do with Man Utd always being below them than anything godlike.
It's more of a case i think just like players, Managers can go through peaks and troughs and have different periods of success. Even though it's more cerebral than physical, managers who don't evolve and adapt will be left behind like Mourinho and Wenger. Alli theoretically should be at the peak of his powers but he's a terrible player now. Did he really have a 3 year purple patch and was already a bad player or actually like managers, the mental side of the game is just as important as the physical aspects. Not sure Klopp will be able to rebuild this liverpool side and i haven't been following poch since he's left but i think its more on their coaching than them "lucking" out on players coming in
That may all be true as well. But if the best managers' edges are so small that they don't show up in the data AND their previous performance isn't a guide to the future then what criteria would you use to select a new manager?
If Klopp had no effect on Liverpool how come from a failing background did we in 7 1/2 seasons win 4 trophies plus be in four other finals and in any other era one at least one more league . Oh and the rise in our revenues is at least partially down to the improvement in our form under JK.
Salah, Mane, Allison, TAA, Robertson and van Dyck might have had something to do with it. As might Klopp. All I am arguing is that we can't know for certain.
If Klopp had a significant part in identifying and/or actioning those players for signing, then he has has made a material improvement to the Poool via another dimension.
3 of them were Klopp picks Salah less so and Robbo was definitely a scounting team pick ke ok'd . You seem to miss the part though where both Mane andSalah were swopped to the opposite wings to where the had previously paid plus the tactical changes likethe advanced FB's .
on that as havesaid previously on here and our board if i was the 4th official he would invariably get an minimum of a yellow every time we are losing / lose . Mind you that applies to lots of other managers too and in Artetas case every game since he spends a substantial portion of each game on the playing surface .
Huddersfield's win over Sheffield United relegated Reading. Their last game of the season? Home to Reading! That's got to be one hell of an unenjoyable away trip on Monday. Happy Coronation weekend, Royals fans.
After 6 games, Reading were top of the Championship. Now they are relegated and their ladies team are currently bottom of the WSL
Reminds me of Millwall's 95/96 season. Top in December, then Mick McCarthy left for the Ireland job and they got relegated.
