man utd have 5 games and need 2 wins and 3 draws. 2 wins, 2 draws and 1 loss and we have a chance (on gd) reality check now west ham wolves Bournemouth chelsea fulham exactly where do people think they will drop any point there. I mean realistically you are looking very very hard and squint a bit you might see a draw. one.
Agree with this, but it's not about the fixtures anymore, as realistically we need utd to crack mentally to drop 7 points in those games.
Lose to West Ham away Beat wolves at home draw with Bournemouth away Draw with Chelsea at home Beat Fulham at home Realistically United on paper should cruise top 4. Easiest set of fixtures and it relies on us to win all our games (also Brighton could sneak it but have some tough games). This is why I think Newcastle despite being 2 points ahead, are prob more likely side to drop out as their fixtures are much tougher. As Incredibles says though, at this stage it’s more mental than anything. We beat Brentford and we go 2 points behind them. Closes the gap and makes that West Ham game a bit more important.
They’ve only scored 3 goals in their last 5 games so things aren’t going very well right now, no easy game in the prem either so you never know - one more poor result and the heat really would be on.
It’s called momentum. And pressure. When one team has the former every match is winnable and 3 points get collected as a matter of fact. When there is the latter every match becomes laboured and a potential 3 points drppped. Just like Arsenal are saying that they would gladly taken 2nd at the beginning of the season, we would have viewed a top 4 as a given and our rightful place. We just had a mid season blip which we’ve recovered from.
Not really, most form charts show the last five or six games. Afterall, form is a short term thing so shouldn't be viewed over ten, twelve, etc games.
Race for the top 4 and Europe (given Arsenal and Citeh will finish top2) Newcastle 65pt P33 (max 80pts) Arsenal (h) Leeds (a) Brighton (h) Leicester (h) Chelsea (a) Man U 63pts P33 (max 78) WHam (a) Wolves (h) Bmouth (a) Chelsea (h) Fulham (h) Liverpool 59pts P34 (max 71) Brentford (h) Leicester (a) Villa (h) Soton (a) Brighton 55pts P32 (max 73) Everton (h) Arsenal (a) Newcastle (a) Soton (h) Man City (h) Villa (a) Spurs 54pts P34 (max 66) Palace (h) Villa (a) Brentford (h) Leeds (a) Villa 54pts P34 (max 66) Wolves (a) Spurs (h) Liverpool (a) Brighton (h) Brentford 50pts P34 (max 62) Liverpool (a) WHam (h) Spurs (a) Man City (h)
same here just can't get my head round the fact we could make top 4 ( i'm convinced we won't )h considering the state of us for much of the season
People here are looking at Man Utd as the team to catch. In fact Newcastle look on paper to have more difficult matches and if they catch the opposition on a bad day more likely to drop points. what do the different colours mean?
The reason why I'm not focussed on Newcastle is due to form, and it is all down to form at this stage. When newcastle do win, they win well, whereas even when man utd win, they show signs of not being able to see it out. Having said that, so do we, so maximum points for us is by no means a given
Blue = European contenders Red = Relegation battlers Black = Safe or should be safe, just playing out the season.
