Chelsea’s players give as much of a **** as ours. Literally strolling about without a care in the world.
The idiocy of Chelsea and football is staggering. Sack Lampard for being ****, hire a great young manager, Lampard gets another job on the bounce! Burden the new manager with 600m worth of young players and an unmanageable squad size, watch Lampard get sacked for being ****, sack the manager with the impossible job and then bring back Lampard. Bizzare doesn’t even get close.
Tbf the reason they brought Lampard back was to try and get the fans onside for the last games where the season was over. Only risk was he did a Solskjaer and do well and they are forced to give him the job permanently, that obviously isn’t happening
A few weeks ago, I think the BBC provided an article suggesting that PSG might refine their buying policy and dig into.the wealth of talent on its doorstep instead of the scattergun approach of buying all the top talent. I believe London also has an abundance of talent so.why Chelsea need to splash out 600 million on players that are in reality little better than their academy products beggars belief!
Oh a big shake up is undoubtedly needed across the football pyramid. Academies are a pointless joke at the moment. How many players in the EPL came from academies into the first team this season? Every single one has talent sitting there while the club buys in young players from elsewhere. It makes me mad. Smart clubs are getting rid of the academy which is of course really bad for youth development and likely only perpetuates the cycle.
If those reports after the sacking of Jones are true (that Saints had monitored Lampard), you’d certainly hope this is hammering nails into that coffin.
Some clubs seem to make better use of their academy products than others. With regard to SFC, only Ward-Prowse since Chambers, Shaw and Lallana moved on. A trawl.through the PL reveals very few academy products breaking through at their respectable clubs this season.
It's interesting that in some senses, both they and us have been seriously hampered by squad size. It doesn't lend itself to understanding and consistency. Even if (in our case) the calibre of the players is...err...below average, at least they can potentially play as a unit in a smaller squad scenario (Bournemouth style).
Was thinking the same myself about similarities. Its not just talent, both squads have very talented players but neither squad can buy a goal for love nor money. The mentality side is massive and Chelsea have proven that, best players in the world but no confidence or belief, recycling, misplacing passes, no penetration, lack of understanding. Very familiar but even funnier in a club like that.
Looks like Alexis Mac Allister is off to Liverpool in the summer. Brighton's quest to be a 2014 Southampton regen continues.
It's a vicious cycle. Brighton are where we were 6 or 7 years ago. They'll probably gradually fall back down the table at some point. It's simply impossible to consistently keep up with the top 6 unless you get a Newcastle sized takeover.
And like us they will keep losing their managers if they do any good. Poch went and was a success, can’t help thinking the Fat Lying Dutchman would have been better off for another couple of years at least
I think that Brighton will move for Alcaraz in the summer. Liverpool need a total rebuild albeit I think that they will struggle for top five again next season.
If Caciedo moves as well (as seems likely), I could see them going for Lavia (and it would be a really good move for both). I don't know that we'll see Charly move just yet (and I very much hope he won't), but it's certainly possible.
I think Alcaraz should take up another sport. Like tennis maybe. I can see it now “Carlos Alcaraz the Tennis star”. Got a ring to it.
