But if a clown of a Manc ref cant even see the tackle on Diaz was at least a foul from 5 yards away, let alone a yellow, we can at least assume Tierney is the 2nd most overrated prima donna after Oliver, and you'll whistle for your apoogy; as we did with Kane. Tierney's ****. He's always been ****. Klopp's made out that he's out to get Liverpool though, despite plenty of evidence to the contrary. He's now getting a ban to placate your mob. The same happened with Arsenal. We all know what Fergie used to do, too. It's a two-tier reffing system. You get paid more for some games in the same league and miss out if some manager's aren't happy. That's just insanely corrupt and stinks of the calciopoli scandal in Italy.
I think there are a few factors to take into consideration: Our current partnership of Skipp and Hojbjerg isn't a significant upgrade on Winks and Sissoko. I'd say the current pair is better going forward while the latter pair tended to do a lot more work defensively, Sissoko especially. On paper, our best combination is Bissouma and Bentancur but thanks to Conte's stubbornness and then injuries we haven't seen them play together. In theory they would be an enormous upgrade on Winks and Sissoko. Our overall system back then was also far less defensive. There was still a muscle memory of trying to play on the front foot and this did relieve pressure on the defence and allow the CMs a bit more space to make decisions, something those two needed a lot of. Our FBs were also better defensively back then. Davies at LB and Trippier at RB (ironic considering I wanted him out the club, my how I regret that now) were just much more reliable in terms of protecting the central channels. Many of us panned Royal and Sessegnon for being appalling footballers, which they are, but the salient fact is: our defence has gone to pot since they both got injured as Porro and Perisic are about effective defensively as Son is. We are far too easy to play through either by doubling up on the flanks where there is no cover or by playing an extra man in midfield to outnumber us. And this is what has led to us conceding 3 or more goals in six games since the new year, compared to twice prior to that. As injuries to defensively reliable players have racked up, so have the gaps opened wide. And tactically we've done nothing about it. If anything, Stellini somehow made it even worse.
