I've absolutely no idea why he wants anything to do with football ... ... having met him I'd say he has no idea about the game or love for it. It's all very strange.
His consortium trying to buy Charlton is supposedly backed by at least two US multi-billionaires, but how much money they will actually put in to the club is of course unknown. I’ve heard that the ‘billionaires’ who were supposed to be connected to his time with yourselves, were in fact not genuine or at least didn’t actually put much or any money in. Is that true ?
The bloke is a con man. Full of patronising patter, empty of the money needed to run a club like Charlton ( he was WAY short up here), and will go missing when the going gets sticky. Avoid a chancer like this at all costs if you can.
Quick buck mate. He thinks he can get a ride off some rich guys who don't know football and think he does. Hopefully they are type of rich guys who don't take kindly to being grifted, and sort the horrible, oily waster out!
Haha I tend to sit on the fence about most things but not him, was around him briefly once when we had the tipi outside the ground and he said something along the lines of ‘right we’ve been amongst this lot long enough now’ and headed to the ground, clearly thought he was above us all
All about a quick buck, Sandgaard our current owner brought in his son and girlfriend to oversee things.
Yeah, I think we tend to keep an eye on what's happening at Charlton, seems like you've had years of this cloud and no sign of the silver lining ... ... Methven is a Boris Johnson type of man who believes his 'charm and charisma' transcends common sense, good practice and honesty. Pray he doesn't become involved mate.
Alternative view. Him and Donald Stewart took us on when the club was in disarray and nobody wanted us. initially brought the club back together but their plan was to promote to championship and sell on. If that happened, most Sunderland fans would have looked at their stay as a positive one. Unfortunately they missed out on promotion twice and didn’t have the pockets to keep going, so started selling our best youth players etc. They also had various fallings out with the fans and made other silly mistakes. BUT, what they did do was make the club more sustainable, which in turn attracted our new very very good owners. And for that, I am grateful. Many ups and downs whilst with the club, it ended very negatively but there are some positives, which some fans forget/ignore.
