If we get Spurs first half performances and Southampton 2nd half performances in our last 5 games we'll be fine.
If Brighton beat Man Utd on Thursday they might start to look over their shoulder at Liverpool. They should get over the 72 point mark with the fixtures they have remaining though. I can see a scenario where Liverpool bring this to the final day with us or man utd needing a result to make sure of it.
We need three wins which puts us on 74 points, Brighton's maximum is 73 and Liverpool's 71, Villa and Spurs can only get to 66 so they are already out of it, Liverpool or Brighton, who have to play us, have to win every game to try and overhaul us, Brighton have to play Man Utd, Arsenal, Us and Man City so I don't think they'll make it, Liverpool have an easier run in but can only get to 71 points so three wins puts us beyond them, It's in our hands as far as I can see and get anything out of Arsenal next Sunday and I would say we are on our way to the Champions League.
As it is now, Man U may get lucky and pip us to 3rd, but I'd say we're favourites for 3rd right now. Even if Liverpool pick up in form, they're crap form earlier in the season has meant it's too late...plus yesterday they look shaky as feck against an awful Spurs team. Brighton have too much to do, and Spurs and Villa are already gone.
Our remaining 5 games are all winnable, Brighton is the toughest, Arsenal are bottling it, Chelsea are horrific, and Leeds and Leicester are both bad.
The circumstances at the time will come in to play if Liverpool are only 3 points behind and Newcastle lose on Sunday all of a sudden Leeds away becomes a must win and the heat will be on.
I disagree because if they lose the games in hand would be gone and Liverpool would be only 3 points behind with 9 points still to play for.... Liverpool would suddenly be favourites and the gd would be narrow This is all of course theoretical, but cannot be ruled out.
We will get the 7 points needed even if Liverpool win every game which they won't. I'm a pessimist and even i think we are there now. Liverpool have left it too late.
We can think anything mate but it will not be over until Newcastle win enough games and they have a very difficult run in and haven't had anything to lose until now. A 3 point lead and a loss to arsenal is actually a very likely scenario and if it happens the games become very difficult.
Lots of assumptions there Liverpool's next 4 games are tough in reality, on form Fulham, Brentford and Villa, and a Leicester team who can battle them. Liverpool need to rely on making up 9 points on us in 5 games and with worse GD, hence why we're 1/16 for top 4 and they're 5/1. Liverpool are more likely to catch Man U if they catch anyone.
What I think is that it'll be a 3 point gap come arsenal kick off and if they lose it's far from over. They must get it done before the last 3 games.
