By all accounts we had both thought and heard of De Zerbi, but opted to keep Ralph in the summer instead...
With our CB’s and JWP/Lavia we were more than capable of staying up. If we had a manager capable of setting up a defence we would still be in the mix, but with a hope of finishing 15-17th. Goals were always going to be a problem, defence should not have been.
Well yeah the club had, or definitely should have anyway. Like every club should have heard of/known about Van Dijk/Mane/Alderweireld etc and we still managed to sign them. I was talking more about your average fan when it comes to managers
But even the best defence in the world will have problems if any shot on target is going past your keeper.
I don’t think AA will regain his “ability” nor confidence with us, even in the Championship. I think he’s shot.
No one is enjoying this mate. It’s just that we’re not all whiney little tarts who can’t handle it when life serves up a **** sandwich
True. But any decent manager would have dropped Baz months ago. Can you imagine Dyche, Pulis, hodgepodge, allardace etc persisting with him? The managerial appointments weren’t just ****, they were not focusing on what we needed to survive based on what we had. We could have ground out a few results, had a couple of smash and grab victories. But oh no, we had to have the statistically best manager in Europe and then an assistant who had been working in the PL for 6 months.
I think that thanks to SR our club and squad is going to be third best to Seagulls and Cherries for quite a few years to come - God forbid that we are ever likely to be fourth best ...
I can assure you Lincs I go to matches, take my family to matches and at the last check, none of us are deluded, we're all hacked off and be in no doubt I wouldn't want to be the person reading my last response to the Customer post match survey. But that's it, all done, life to lead and were it not for holidays I'd be at our last two home games. SR v Gao investment wise, no comparison so they own the Club and having gone all through this kind of stuff before with Saints, I'll be back at the first home game next season with the usual level of hope and await the summer with a distinct feeling of optimism. Otherwise I may as well go and take a long walk down a disused coalmine to lighten my day.
