The Scottish premiership doesn't have good quality throughout the league because Celtic and Rangers can hoover up any emerging talent by offering them 10 times their wages elsewhere. If the players emerge a bit later then Championship/ EPL clubs or Celtic/ Rangers hoover them up later. Often though, that is detrimental to Celtic and Rangers long term European goals, because they are not used to playing against tough opposition. Much like PSG in France.
"Cantwell is doing OK at Rangers, which proves what a crap league it is." So Van Dijk did well at Celtic, which proves what a crap league it is .
You will arrogantly dismiss any players that play for Rangers or Celtic because in your opinion it's a crap league. This doesn't explain how Rangers got to the Europa league Cup Final last season with plenty of top European sides in it .
You're boring. Well it will be even more embarrassing if Dowell leaves us for the Crap Rangers too which is quite likely .
I can see the appeal of leaving a misfiring Championship side like ours to play in front of 50, 000 home fans guaranteed European football against sides like Arsenal, Juventus, Roma Napoli, Dortmund etc rather than the dizzy heights of Rotherham & Blackpool. If Dowell one of our best creative players jumps ship too that will be a new low for Norwich.
Rangers are nowhere near the force they used to be, especially given they just lost to Aberdeen, proving what a crap league it's <sigh> baiting aside, in answer to post https://www.not606.com/threads/arrivals-departures-lounges-summer-2023.399656/page-73#post-16660793 I'd guess suggest the loans out, apart from Mumba. Plus one of Sara or Núñez. It'd be fair to let Aarons go, just don't really see who to other than somewhere like Sheff Utd or Everton. Edit: perhaps also Sorenson, if he wants guaranteed starts somewhere abroad?
It was £1.5m, wasn't it? Still a pittance to be sure compared to what we could have gotten for him a couple of years ago. *I hadn't read the posts after yours when I wrote this.
Wagner said in the press conference that conversations have already been had with players and agents for next season new signings
Wagner's quoted comments: "Now I have a very good inside view, and we already made our first decisions, we already planned for next season. To be totally honest, for a few weeks I’ve been so excited about next season, and this doesn’t matter which division we are in. It’s only because I know there’s a lot of space for improvement. We have a lot of work to do. We already had the first meetings and conversations with players and agents as well, so we are really working hard behind the scenes to improve this team and this football club for the next season." But he also said: "We’ll get the plan we have in place. Obviously, normally nothing is done in one window, but you can do a lot. This, for sure, is what we aim for." https://www.pinkun.com/news/23485819.norwich-city-david-wagner-interview-summer-transfer-window/ Obviously new players are needed to replace Pukki, Cantwell, Sinani and Hugill. Hayden and Marquinos will also depart unless new deals are done. Springett and Kamara could go out on loan. That suggests at least 5 players to come in. There is also uncertainty about Dowell, so it could be a busy window. GK: Gunn Krul? McGovern? RB: Aarons? Byram? Mumba LB: Giannoulis McCallum CB: Hanley Gibson Omobamidele DM: Hayden? Sørensen Gibbs CM: Núñez Sara? McLean WR: Dowell? Rowe Springett? Marquinhos? WL: Hernandez Tzolis? Placheta? ST: Sargent Idah Kamara?
Could a Pukki and Farke reunion be on the cards? https://www.pinkun.com/news/23487828.norwich-city-pukki-farke-reunion-cards/
According to Michael Bailey, Dowell and his agent have indicated to the club that his preference is to move on. Not surprisingly IMO, in view of how things have gone for him; but equally, I don't think the club would be hugely disappointed.
