I feel your pain I live in Northumberland so surrounded by non match going mags, local Asda was full of black and white shirts while they were 5 up v spurs
Imagine what it was like for me when they made the Uefa Cup final in 2005, and they were spending millions on players like Ravenelli and Juninho lol. They soon spit their dummies out when things arent going their way though. Alot of Boro fans i know started watching Stockton town instead when they were struggling under Chris Wilder
I have a feeling I’ll find out in the not so distant future still see the ‘we’re going to Wembley’ flags in shops imagine if they’d won the ****er!
They have been very lucky to have a Chairman like Steve Gibson who is a multi millionaire and die hard Boro fan. He has spent millions to make them the club they are now paying for their stadium and spending millions on players and wages. They also have one of the best training grounds in the country aswell. Without him theyd be no different to any other small League 1 club. When their gates dropped to an average af 18k a match a few years ago he was paying a million pound a month to keep the afloat
Genuinely don’t mind boro but I’ve never really been around their fan base, I’d make them favourites in the play offs but we’ve technically beaten them on aggregate once already this season so nothing to fear there, Luton are probably the more stubborn of the 2 we just seem to draw 1-1 every time we meet
I should like them aswell mate, they are my local team but spending 5 mins with a Boro fan will make you hate them. I have massive respect for Luton, look at how far theyve come without spending millions. They narrowly missed out on promotion last year so if we dont go up i hope its them
I’d be rooting for them too if we weren’t in it, I’d love nothing more than seeing the premier league Primadonnas rock up at kennilworth road
Haha i know. Would it even meet the criteria? There was a club a while ago that won promotion that had to spend a few million getting their stadium up to scratch to meet Premiership standards to be able to be allowed in the league. I cant remember the team now ?
Might have been Bournemouth? I seem to remember a lot about the size of the ground anyway, 12k capacity or something.
Last year's play off final was under VAR, so hopefully no dodgy decisions will hinder anyone who gets there this year if its used again, it should be really. Then again, it is VAR so who knows what could happen
Lived in North Tyneside most of my life, thankfully I was at Uni when they were at their peak under Keegan, but had to suffer their stench of entitlement ever since. My in-laws are "dyed in the wool" black and white, yet never known them to get to games. My cousins on my Mum's side (and their kids) are all B&W, but again none of them go to games. Think one of their kids went to the cup final, but that's about it. Always amazes me how these people claim to be huge fans but only ever watch games on TV or in the pub. Passion by osmosis I suppose.
They’re always the biggest gobshites too MOST of the ones I know that go are okay Atleast to me anyway I’m sure they revert to type when they’re with other mags
Fans like that are called followers because thats all they literally do. They dont support the club. I know loads of Boro fans that claim to be massive supporters but have never been to a game since they played at Ayesome park.
I have a modicum of respect for those who do actually go to games. As I always tell my FIL - if he won't go to games, then he's not allowed an opinion
Mrs’ mother is the exact same however in recent weeks she’s been caught cheering us on when on the telly!
**** that ****. As I said the the BIL once - I hate you, I want you to get relegated and go out of business and I demand the same in return. This "wanting all NE clubs to do well" is ****ing bollocks
