Yeah, weather looks horrible for the next race. I'm interested in seeing how we all think is best to minimise the effect of the rain (if it comes) on strategy. Not sure whether to keep my current driver if it'll be wet (high talent) or try to get a better one.
Started 25th finished 16th so not a bad race for me, although I probably could of finished 13\14th but I put in too much fuel which made my 2nd stint pace slow, finished with 31lts still in the tank. I have no idea what I am going to do for strategy next race at the moment.
I had one guy in my group whose strategy I still can't work out. He started last, for the first half of the race was obscenely slow, and by the first round of pit stops was 2 minutes or so away from the next driver. After pitting about halfway through the race, he suddenly gained a stupid amount of pace, and spent the rest of the race posting successive fastest laps, nearly 2 seconds faster than anyone else. He finally made up 1 position to finish 21st of 22 starters. He only ever made that stop, and then one right at the end, presumably because he ran out of fuel. Anyone able to explain that one?
Was it on the calendar last year? I've never raced it. Can you recall at all whether it was a particularly high wear track for parts?
DHCanary congrats dude 3rd place for ur first race in ur first proper season is awesome, good decision to keep that driver. its change this season with only top 3 promote which will make it harder but with a good start tio the season u could do well, i think for this race u may wanna get a new driver as there will be a fair bit of dry track, well look. El Bando sorry to hear, how much fuel did u use? aggression has to do with fuel use as more aggressive drivers go crazy using more fuel, so if his aggression is high then that could be the reason assuming u used less than 200 litres for the race Mifune forgive me if im wrong but if ur in amatuer 16th place is an awesome start as for the race im stoked i got a 3rd place, first podium. the strategy i used was spot on, had about 15 litres left with 30 % tread left. i think my driver being 78 kgs means less tyre wear and possibly fuel usage. but the rain didnt come which was good and others had theyr strategy for a 2 stopper pittin on lap 54 clearlty as they would have thought the rain would come at lap 55 as most predicted. little bit surprised but excited as my driver has 97 talent which i think would have been less then most, my laps were very consistant though so am really lookin fowaerd to the season. with the grip levels for the next race my interpretation is that high grip levels mean the tyres will reach optimum levels alot faster and concentration could have a say in that clean consistant laps means less tyre wear, i also think the weather may have a say as each tyre compound reaches optimum levels quicker for example extra soft will always reach optimum levels quicker than soft thats a given, soft quicker than medium and so on but given that the weather may have an affect the softs may reach optimum levels soon after the extra softs hence the tyre raching the optimum levels quick with the tyres lasting further than the extra softs, but then things like pit in/out time may come into affect and possibly other things to determine how many pitsops ur gonna do. i dont think u have to worry bout the rain as the tyres are the same for everyone. thats just my opinion but i could be wrong maybe u guys have better opinions than mine.
Aweful race for me, slow in qually, even slower in the race. Don't know what to do, hope my new driver is better in the dry otherwise it's game over this season. Started 28th, finsihed 32nd.
Another day, another probably fruitless driver search, any of you think any of these guys are any good? Code: ....... Out of those drivers, the only one that I would go for is number 4, and train with fitness classes after every race.
Do you reckon he's good enough for Rookie, or should I hold on and see what else becomes available on the market? Thanks for the help by the way!
Strategy for this race looks tricky, will it rain or not and if it does then can you time it so you box for fuel and rain tyres. I was thinking another 1 stopper on mediums to cover both scenarios, but the difference in tyre compounds are massive. DHCanary I think no4 with lots of fitness through the season, though your driver did well the last race so may want to hold on to see how he does in the next race
Cheers for the feedback guys. I reckon I'll try me driver this race, and if he can't score points in the dry I'll try driver 4 as a longer-term project, hoping to score well by the end of the season. As for strategy, getting the timing right will be crucial, I'm thinking maybe a 2 stopper on mediums, going with a shorter first stint then trying to time the second stop for the weather. Although if you can run really long in the first stint, and coincide weather and tyres, that may be even quicker. I think tyres will wear at nearly 5% a lap though, which might be a bit much. Edit: Just qualified 12th of 14 at the moment. My guy definitely doesn't have pace in the dry! I think this race is a write-off, so I'm going to go for driver number 4 now so at least he gets experience, even if his set-up is off.
DHCanary hey dude, dont make any bids yet if theres one thing iv learnt about the markwet is that u wait till last possible moment to make ur bid as others will wait for everyone to make theyre bid and u then would have lost precious money plus i may still have some decent drivers in my shortlist, ill have a look i think race might be all over the shop meaning itll be dry then wet then dry again then maybe wet, i think i might go for a 1 stop also and maybe wait 3 laps to pit for wet/dry tyres incase that does happen, it may not even reach the 4th quarter of the race need to work out what the average elite times are it might not even rain. if 2 stopper i think the softs will last its not that hot
Gone for 2 on the softs with 230 fuel, the amount of people who have gone mega light with extra softs in my group is a bit odd, I cant see 3 stops being the right strategy. Also does anyone change their set-up in accordance to the temperature rising? I always add more wing.
I'm trying a 2 stopper as well. I haven't been playing long enough yet to really know how temperature affects things so don't adjust my settings. It's something I'll be watching out for.
Just logged on and saw I am in 33rd position lapping 6 secs off lead pace and 41 secs behind 1st after 5 laps.
Amateur is tough, I'm 27th lapping 3 seconds off the pace and about 40 seconds off the lead. This is going to be a hard season
