Just looking around some of the free transfers this season, there are some ridiculously good players available which could mean some deals to be had! Have a look https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/statistik/endendevertraege and see who you'd bring in. GK David De Gea RB Nelson Semedo CB Martin Skrinar CB Evan Ndicka LB Alejandro Grimaldo CM Youri Tielmans CM Daichi Kamada CM Dani Cebellos RW Jonathan Bamba CF Moussa Dembele LW Marcus Thuram
I think we need 4, seen Downie on SS suggesting up to 7 in the summer but you could get a few from the list above (or Messi and Benzema as DDP suggests) and pad the squad out reasonably cost effectively! I'd take 2 of the 3 cm's, Thuram and Skrinar myself, maybe Ndicka too as he's a left footed CB and apparently1.92 tall!
We've been linked with Tielmans and Thurman before...does this mean we've waited too long and are gonna get gazumped by the other wage offers they get now? Probably.
Richest clubs in the world don't get out done on wages, even if they don't want to break the wage structure you could offer very "competitive" signing bonuses.
I can’t see is signing 7. Look at Chelsea’s disaster. If we make champions league I think 3 top class players.
100% can't see more than 4/5 incoming, but they need to be the right fit for the squad, adding quality is important but they must have the right personalities also. Howe is turning what we all thought mid championship players into decent footballers all over the team and a lot of that will be to do with the mind set. Can't see any Ronaldo's or Ibrahimovic's coming in upsetting the balance atm.
A year ago I'd have agreed with you. This season both Willock and Long staff have performed better. Tielemans has been anonymous in that Leicester midfield.
He can theoretically be brought back to that level, it's not like he's had any career impeding injuries or anything.
These are both fair points, just a tad concerned if he'll put the effort in if the season's not going quite so well...
lkay Gundogan would be a great signing. Rumoured to be heading to Spain, but still think he'd be an experienced head for European competition and used to the top end of the table in the PL.
He'd be a great shout - I've specifically gone for younger players under 27 if possible (Keeper and RB aside) but a couple of experienced heads in there would be handy and Gundogan has a good head on his shoulders and know what it takes to win leagues.
