I just listened to Sportstalk from Monday, a nice story from Pete Smurthwaite, he actually declined Graham Potter's approach to managing Brid Town when he was at Hull Uni.

When Vardy put that 2nd in (before it was ruled out obvs) was it so wrong of me to jump out of my chair almost like I do when City score?

Not really - sounds like a natural reaction to me <laugh>

Also after their wins last night, both Plymouth and Ipswich only need one more win to secure automatic promotion to the Championship, leaving the biggest club in the world to the lottery of the play offs where they will hopefully get stuffed

Yes. Someone once asked why I spoke to someone in the pub about football as they thought I hated Leeds. I do, and the bloke knows that, but I told them he is from Leeds so he supports his local team which is what we all think people should do.

In my can't stand standings I have the odious London clubs at the top, then the whiny Scouser ones, followed by the arrogant, entitled Yorkshire ones. After that it all tends to come down to current positioning or a match by match basis. Flexible loathing is the sign of a healthy mindset.

Don’t mind Everton. The match that got me hooked on City was the Everton Cup tie in 1964. I was thinking it would be great having fans as vocal and raucous as they were. They were even dressed differently. First time most of us had seen bell bottoms (not flares). Then there was that film about Everton fans going down to London in a furniture van on the BBC if you remember it. Thought how great as a 14 year old. The other reason I don’t mind them is their fans tend to be local to the club. How many people do you see in pubs with Everton shirts on? The only Everton “fan” I have known is someone who years ago started supporting them to wind up his older Liverpool supporting brother.

Even the local ones are ****ing clueless bastards who I try to avoid talking about football to. Quite funny when they go into "woe is us" mode though, like now

Yes, but they are supporting their local club.I worked in Leeds in the 1960s and knew some lads who had started going before Revie was appointed and had a great few years seeing them progress. I remember one of them saying when a bus turned up with Carlisle Whites on he didn’t want people from all over supporting them like they did with Man Utd. That didn’t work out, you are hard pressed to find someone from Leeds on their not606 site. A lot are silly ****s who are wimps who think they have some vicarious toughness because of the Service Crew.<laugh>

Don't think I've ever met one from within the Leeds City boundaries. It's a rugby town

Looks like they're trying to make it a flag stadium.

Get ready for complaints from people complaining that the flags spoilt their view of the teams warming up and children being traumatised by the sound of flags fluttering and needing ear defenders,

Wonder if we will get one like this one day?<laugh>

Think that's what they're hoping for eventually. It's the Continental way.
