But my whole point is that we have not had years of incompetence from anyone. We are about as good as we should be. I wish we were better but there isn't a magic wand that will make us so.

The magic wand in this case is comprehensive planning as opposed to lurching from one manager to the next and in each case making different decisions for the squad choices. We end up with what we have, a hotchpotch of players, some in favour some out of favour some on loan to other clubs and young players on the periphery with no clear path to success. Somewhere in our existing squad is probably a decent team but we need a manager who will look at our squad and plan accordingly not another big ego who 'knows' how to play football and these bloody players will just have to fit into MY system. That is such a crap way to run a team unless you have been a manager at the same club for years and you have moulded the squad over time. If Levy ran the financial side in a similar way we would have gone broke years ago.

But even you can't think that today was acceptable, as I said at half time that was as bad a half as I can recall, players can play badly but as a collective we were poor all over the park, Newcastle didn't even have to play that well to be 5 up in 20 minutes and that is just not acceptable

And I hate booing players our own and even opposing ones because I think its counter productive but I would probably have joined in at HT today

The problem is that we (again) sacked a manager with no plan.
The manager dragged Sanchez off after 20 mins last week which was equally as bad as those who singled him out for abuse. Both the fans and the manager singled him out.
The same manager didn't start him today cos of the fans (if you are right).
The only take on this is Levy has screwed up with yet another managerial decision.
No manager should not pick a player cos of the fans.

They took the 'Don't stand so close to me' message a bit to literally when it came to marking opposition players!

It's been coming. I've no doubt that we'll get the same treatment in the next 2 games as well.

We've become a shell of a team and a football club. At the centre, there's absolutely nothing, apart from the supporters. I cannot see a brighter future under the current regime, no matter the appointment of Munn and whoever, foolishly, takes over as coach and DoF in the months ahead.

This club needs to find an identity and a reason to exist, beyond rewarding some already very rich people with yet more wealth. Until then, we are doomed to yet more failure.

You probably won't get another six goal smacking again this season - so you've passed your lowest ebb.

Correct, but that was then and this is now.

You were on the tails of top 4 with every chance of qualifying for the champions league and he's left you managerless and with a squad that's now imploding on the back of that.

Levy has been your main problem for a while, now. He needs to go for your club to be able to progress.

For Levy and all the other shareholders, the club is doing just fine, they are riding the PL gravy train every year with a European bonus most seasons also. This is the extent of ENIC`s ambition. The value of their shares is increasing year on year, so no wonder they don`t want change.

looking at the premier league table and other clubs having games in hand, we could fail to qualify for any European competition. Maybe that’ll result in change? Seems like a good excuse to clear out about 15 members of this **** show and press reset, too.

I agree about the style of manager we need and I've always said it was a big mistake to sack Pochettino. But I still don't think any lasting harm has been done. Almost no managers do long term good or harm...they get massively overpaid for what little they do. Whoever comes in has got about 40 players with various different strengths and weaknesses from which to mould a squad. Most likely the new coach will end up performing much the same as the previous coaches because he won't be special either, but hopefully with more exciting football.

In recent years, Utd fans have experienced just what Spurs fans are suffering at present.
A high profile manager is appointed (in Mourinho’s case, the very same one). That manager backs their own blueprint and recruits players accordingly. But their way proves flawed, usually because they are short of enough players with the quality to execute their plans or the squad depth is lacking. They appointed for the long term, but end up leaving in frustration after a short period.
The new manager comes in, looks to implement their own plans and recruits to suit their vision. But they can’t overhaul the whole team/squad and so they have to try to get existing players to adapt, but some are square pegs in round holes. So that fails and the cycle starts again.
Then you reach a point where the team relies on two or three quality players bailing them out through their individual efforts. Then you have to start again…
The only solution is to appoint well, back that manager for the long term (3-5 years), have a clear and workable policy for recruitment of players (which envisages that the group will largely stay together for that 3-5 year period and improve individually and collectively) and accept, at the outset, that there isn’t a quick fix.

That's simply because we don't yet have enough money to compete. Levy has raised the club's financial standing and its football standing almost exactly matches the financial standing. For a while it looked like the football standing was outperforming the financial standing but it was unrealistic to expect that to continue.
A big capital injection could solve all our problems and is certainly possible now due to the improvement ENIC has delivered.

Where have you been since 2019?

There’s barely anyone at this club who’s made a competent decision since then.

You only have to look at us right now to realise it’s taken years of ridiculous decision making to get this bad.

But you've spent masses more money than us so should have seen a lot better outcomes. Man City are the only club whose expenditure has really been channelled into lasting success.

I've been watching us finish around the position we ought to be finishing in. We've made lots of mistakes but no more than most other clubs. We actually have the lowest scatter on our league finishes other than Man City. That doesn't suggest incompetence.

Levy has left you without a manager and blew your chances of champions league football because you simply don't have the money?
