Batter them. Seven points clear when we play city might actually make THEM a bit nervous knowing. I can wish anyway. Draw with city, lose to Newcastle, city draw away at Brighton, all other games are wins. We batter Chelsea 10-0. We win the league on goal difference sending Chelsea down to the championship. Bosh.
Ouch! Not sold on Vieira, let's hope he performs tonight! We really need to come out of the traps running to show some intent, I feel a big scoreline coming on tonight *finger crossed!
Really worry about Smith Rowe, that sort of centre mid but pushing forward position would be great for him and he still doesn't get a game. Get him on at half time surely.
With these concrete links now to us signing Mason Mount, I’m starting to think we may look to sell ESR this Summer. Which I personally think would be a mistake, but it’s possible that we sell him.
I’m just lost for words with this performance. All this hard work we’ve done this season, so much promise we’d shown. And right toward the season’s end, we’ve thrown everything away. ****ing pathetic.
Season’s over. Probably gonna lose every game from now until the end of the season. Spineless bottlejobs.
Ooof. looks like we’ve had quite the collapse. I think it’s a mixture of injuries, pressure, inexperience, and losing focus.
First half of season, only concede 14 goals and win 16 of 19 games. Second half of season, only played 13 games but only got 7 wins so far, 18 goals conceded. What a naff second half of the season. Urgh.
A draw does absolutely nothing for us. Title now in City’s hands. I expect them to sail through and cruise to the title now. Even if we’d somehow won that game, the players have not shown enough composure or calmness at vital moments that suggests they’re a title winning outfit. You cannot keep coming back from 2/3 goal deficits and expect to win the league. Defence has seriously let us down in the second part of this season. **** result, **** performance.
Sadly another poor performance, particularly from the defence who often seem to crumble under pressure. Ramsdale is a similar keeper to De Gea in that he's a good shot stopper but a liability with the ball at his feet. If we are going to play out from the back then we need a keeper who can play football. Unfortunately with our last 3 results we have handed the title to City, unless some kind of miracle happens.
I know it might not be the right time to say it, but I am still really proud of what this team has done this season. These last few games show we still have things to learn and can still improve on various positions. (Apart from also learning how crucial saliba is for us). However this season ends, I am excited for this summer, next season, and beyond. (also spurs can no longer finish above us this season just as a fun fact.)
When all is said and done, and I have time to reflect, I will probably share a lot of the same sentiments as you. We have definitely made significant strides forward as a team and going from 5th to 2nd would represent a monumental improvement that none of us would have anticipated at the season’s beginning. However, I am also quite gutted that we look to have completely botched a healthy lead we’d built up and have lost the league title due to many players being inexperienced in this situation. The amount of individual mistakes, sloppy passes, turnovers and switch-offs from set plays are a sign of a team with huge nerves that are playing the occasion rather than the game. Whilst every team drops points, the games against Southampton (twice), Brentford at home, Everton away and West Ham away are games I will look back on and think “this is where we’ve messed things up for ourselves”. I hope the players learn from this, and we can improve on what we’ve built for the years ahead, but you get the feeling that it’s going to be harder/more competitive next season.
I was at the Southampton game on Friday. Now we're all disappointed with the result but I will say that last 10 mins was the loudest I've ever heard a football Stadium. It was ****ing incredible. Considering 3-4 years ago there atmosphere was TERRIBLE. It's not just performances that have imporved at Arsenal, The Emirates is finally becoming the stadium it always should have been.
