Palace is a bit of a false situation I think, Viera faced an utterly obnoxious run of fixtures. Hodgson has walked into the easiest run of fixtures in the Prem. They were never in contention for relegation.
Sorry I don't think you can exonerate the players, they are the ones playing the game. They have played football at various levels for years, they now how to get results via graft and craft and most of them are falling short on both accounts
See my latest response. The players weren't that bad today. But they have a non-manager, picking the wrong players in several positions, and giving god-knows-what intructions to them. This same squad, with any other manager currently in the league, would be a decent side.
I thought that the performance today really summed up our season. It has seemed absolutely pointless have a season ticket to watch rubbish like that. There has been no entertainment value whatsoever this season. For all Selles' comments, he cannot get the team to press properly and no matter who we play up front, we are never going to score. The most disappointing thing about today;s match was the Palace did not have yo get out of second gear before putting us to the sword. Too many players are out of form, the coach has been unable to sort out the problems and the squad has lost it's desire. I cannot recall a seaon of watching Saints where the team appears to have blithely accpeted their fate.
Yes, but he got them organised and all of a sudden 9/9. An experienced manager can set a team up. We glaringly missed that opportunity twice this season
Yeah but equally our squad is nowhere near the quality of Palace. No manager would have got 9/9 with this team. Better choices out there than Nathan Jones though, there was nothing available by the time he was sacked, hence Selles.
Oh dear oh dear oh dear….. what are the players thinking?. Not one of them seem to get it into their heads to pass forward when the forward players are waving to them to do so. Some of the defending is worse than a junior team. Sorry he just isn’t the manager we need for next season. I think that result just about sinks us……
Our squad has been lacking true quality since Gao took over. To be honest, I'm surprised we were't relegated years ago.
The amazing thing is that there are people, including on here, who seem to want Selles to remain in charge next season. The guy is clearly a better man than Jones. But I've seen nothing to suggest that he's a better manager than Jones. As I've said for ages, if I retained any hope after the Wolves defeat that we could survive, I would have been furious at the club for giving Selles the job until the end of the season. A total and utter laughable decision. And so quickly after the decision to appoint Jones... But as it was, the season was done for me and so I didn't care that Selles got the job. Just like I don't care if he remains in the job for the next seven games (which he surely will). But no way can he be our manager next season. I have real hope - no, expectation - that we'll come straight back up. But only with the right manager in charge. That is not Selles.
Not sure why Theo is getting grief. Was our best player for the first half, which in itself is worrying.
Absolutely agree. Managers make a huge difference, and we have unfortunately had ****e ones all season
Guys.. it’s the fans fault. if we were just a bit more positive, we wouldn’t get battered every week!
Ok that does it, he can **** off now. They should be grateful we even still turn up, I don’t even think the atmosphere was that bad maybe a little flat, count themselves lucky we aren’t on their back every second of every game, many other clubs fans would be. Are there many other clubs who treat their fans with as much disrespect as this one does? I guess it’s not quite Blackpool under the Oystons, but they certainly seem to have quite a lot of nerve calling us out when they are blatantly unprofessional and pathetic in their own approach. We ****ing PAY to watch the **** you get paid outrageous amounts to dish out, wind your ****ing neck in.
We’ve been utter utter ****e consistently for a season and a half. And we pay significant amounts of our already stretched incomes for the pleasure of watching insipid souless non performances from our millionaire star players time and time again. What a shocker the fans have given up on the team. They frankly don’t deserve our effort supporting them.
