Well said mate. I am going Liberal because whilst we have only these 2 I see a race to the bottom. Maybe a 3rd choice, with a big voice, makes a long term difference. It will take 2 or 3 electiond, but something needs to change.

Exactly the same as me mate, the last thing I want is the tories back in, so do I vote for Labour who I don't want either but just because they can't possibly be as bad as the Conservatives

I'm 68 this year, but fit and happy so not much bothers me tbh ...

... but I'd hate to be my little grandkids growing up now tbh.

This country is so divisive and vicerated that the joy seems to have gone out of it. We were dirt poor kids growing up in the poverty of a Durham pit village, but we didn't have the endless tension that we seem to have now.

We were so naive, but so happy.

Unlike you remainers who complain that we voted to trade with the big wide world and a fair immigration system for all.

You’re just another remain voter who wanted preferential treatment to continue for predominantly white Europeans :emoticon-0149-no:

That’s because you don’t mind Black and Asian folk coming to this country. The old remainer Brexit lovers on this thread are foaming that whitey is losing their special privileges.

What a shame for them eh.

Sorry pal, I’ll just leave you to cast your aspersions next time without reply. I can see you like to give but not take.

Ask yourself how many working class kids from the arse end of the north east you know who've been given the opportunity to go and live and work in the EU.

It's a viable option going and working for a pittance as a skivvy in Paris or Val D'isere when mama and papa are picking up the shortfall, of course

Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer has doubled down on a controversial attack on Rishi Sunak's record on crime, saying "I stand by every word".

A Labour advert claimed Rishi Sunak did not think adults convicted of child sex assaults should go to prison.

Writing in the Daily Mail, Sir Keir backed his party's position "no matter how squeamish it might make some feel".

In response, a Tory source accused Sir Keir of failing to prosecute some of the "worst people in Britain".

"[Sir Keir] thinks the rights of criminals trump those of the law-abiding majority," they added.

… He’s leaving himself wide open with this one. Now the public are going to be left to decide who the biggest ***** sympathiser is, Rishi or Kier. His record at the CPS is now going to be blown up again in case anybody missed it the first time.

And everything the Tories now say in response, and have said before, is perfectly acceptable.

Now we know why their policy has been to keep their mouth shut. It's to stop a foot going in it.

I think we've seen before that "gutter politics" from the Tories has been successful and they would have used those tactics again because that's who they are.

My guess is that Labour have gone after Sunak personally, because they want to cut off the spin that he's a new leader and the previous mess isn't to do with him, which we've heard him try numerous times.

I don't agree with it, but I'm not sure it'll backfire. Most of this country has no problem with gutter politics. In fact, i think a large proportion prefer it as it makes their prejudices easier to justify.

I think this is absolutely true although I disagree with the implication from your first paragraph (although I'm not sure if that was your intention) that this is solely a Conservative thing. There are plenty of examples, including on this platform, of people with a left-wing agenda repeating demonstrably untrue information to promote their cause. I've seen both political parties use various media to criticise the other and I've seen politicians from both sides engage in this kind of thing verbally. This is, however, the first time I've seen an official communication from the Labour Party that appears to stoop to this low level. Its certainly changed my opinion of them. Despite that, I'm not surprised as the calibre of people in parliament is at the lowest in my lifetime.

The first five years that Labour use, Sunak wasn't even an MP.

Starmer was DPP for three of those five years mind.

Poorly conceived and implemented. If they can't even get this right.....

Cons and Labour will fight dirty and use a lot of negative ads. The USA and Australia have done for some time. We are just catching up. The Cons used a lot of negative ads against Corbyn, most of them false, but mud stuck and he was toxic.

Re Sunak and child grooming, it is all about perception, child grooming gangs have been Asian, draw your own conclusions!

A lot of CPS stuff will be flung at Starmer he may be getting his retaliation in first.

Quite easy to draw the conclusion that Labour are now racists, based upon that attempt to influence perception.

The more you look at it, the worse it seems to get. I get that the Americans love it, but their Overton window is way over to the right even with the Democrats.
