As usual we collapse once the other team score. So predictable! We didn’t even test their keeper 2nd half really till we scored . I doubt Pozzo was even there to see the protests . Apparently someone got kicked out with a banner .
Well I'm glad I didn't hang around for that - gutless display. Won't be hanging around on Monday either - the National League table top clash between Notts County and Wrexham looks far more enticing, so I'll be tuning in to that.
I am not excusing the players for that performance, but I think that Wilder also has to take some blame because he made only two changes to his team lineup. Why were none of Adeyemo (who always gives 100% and has just signed his first professional contract), Martins (who scored 3 well-taken goals in 69 minutes for Watford's U-21 team and has been selected for the Brazil U-20 squad to play in 3 friendly games) and Araujo (who has regularly scored goals for Portugal's U-21 team and at different levels for Benfica, but has never been given the opportunity to play off a 'number 9' at Watford) included in the match day squad? "Names like Henrique Araujo and Matheus Martins have been mentioned, and head coach Chris Wilder said he will have no problem making the changes he feels necessary." (Andrew French in the Watford Observer)
Bet Benfica and even Udinese won't be sending us many more players next season. Wouldn't be surprised if Adeyemo goes out on loan next season either.
As someone said near me today Sell Pedro and we could buy the entire Huddersfield squad They wanted and needed to win we hoped we could win How come we never get or even try to get young managers like Kompany or Carrick, thinkoftheloan players could get with either one of them No escaping it now we need a whole new squad
Pozzo strategy no longer working...and hasnt worked since our last promotion really....... the turnaround of head coaches has really destabilised the team and alienated the fan base.. I am not surprised the players are lost on the pitch at times.....contiunally changing tactics and team set ups.
I agree generally although some fans have wanted managers out themselves . Maybe a lesson for all that we need to give everyone time? Look at Burnley - an excellent season but they actually drew their first 3 home games and lost to us before their team settled and got used to each other and the manager.
For the record, I was posting without comment. I'm not entirely sure what my position is overall, but on the pitch I have to agree with the banner. Perhaps Rookery Mike sums up nearest to my feelings, especially in answering "uncle ron" across 4/5 tweets ...
I am not sure where the rot really is.. but the pozzo way of dealing with it is getting nowhere... or has got there now... hit the buffers
Says it all when even guys like Mike who try to be more measured are very critical now! We are getting worse manager by manager - Wilder has one win from 6 games and most of those games haven't exactly been the hardest on paper. Looked like yesterday we were basically relying on an 18 year old and 20 year old to dominate a Championship midfield - and they did their best whilst using Pedro as a striker when he likes to roam about. All I would say is new owners won't suddenly mean for certain we play better, every signing turns out to be good and a manager stays for a long time. The Pozzos need to sort themselves out off the pitch but the manager and players need to take some responsibility for on the pitch performances. Maybe that is the problem - they all blame each other and think well it's not my fault? Even fans don't seem to agree on who is to blame for the season really.. We had 2 banners yesterday criticising different people whilst others have pointed the finger at the managers. I actually thought the team did try and put in some effort tbh but we weren't good enough and made silly errors. Not sure what the point of booing Sarr onto the pitch was - hardly going to motivate him is it? If anything the one player who set a bad example was the captain walking straight off the pitch at the end (again) - just think if that had been Sarr for example!
I really cannot comment on the game, as I didn't see it, and can only go by the comments above. I did watch a great game last night between Chateauroux and Cholet, which the home team won 2-0. The coach in his after match comments said, "J’ai le sentiment d’un vrai collectif. Mes joueurs travaillent les uns avec les autres, les uns pour les autres ! Tout le monde doit travailler et c’est ce qu’ils font." Translated, it is this more or less. "I have the feeling of a real collective. My players work with each other, for each other! Everyone has to work and that's what they do." This coach, who has only been in post since the start of the year, has stamped a different style of play on the team, dropped players who seemed to get an automatic start, and brought in three or four youngsters from the youth team. The set up through the club gives young players the chance to progress, and apart from one or two, they are happy to stay and win a place in the team. So I suspect that because of the frequent comings and goings of managers, players do not have this feeling of being part of a "real collective". Some will be in favour with one, but not the next one. Unlike here, the chance of progressing from an 8 year old to the first team are not good. Either they are lured away by more money, or they do well with the youth team, and then find they get a game in the next stage if there isn't a trialist or first team player recovering from injury that needs a game. Watford has become a club where only the first team seems to matter, but not a "club" any more, where good young players get a clear pathway to a place in the side. We can buy a side is something that only the big clubs can afford today, and Watford is not big enough to do that. Someone within Watford should take a look at the whole set up, from the very youngest to the first team, and develop a plan that brings the club together, not a series of different parts.
Dear Pozzos, Maybe footballers are intelligent beings in Italy, but in England the majority can hardly put a sentence together, as seen on many a interview. So with the constant changes in managers only serves to confues the poor souls.with the constant changes in tactics and styles. Most players can hardly cope with a plan B a season let alone plans c,d, e or f. Hence the total confusion when we play hardly any player knows what their role is due to the continuous change in the way the are asked to play. So taking this in mind. Please please after getting rid of our current manager, please stick with the next one. Regards David Blow(Watrord fan since 1976)
It's also written with a degree of irony - "the majority can hardly put a sentence together", when he struggles to do that himself.
