We are where we are. I cannot change it as I do not work for SR. I can rant and go on about it but it wont change a thing.

The alternative is to take it and just look for the positives. I wouldn't choose to be relegated, but it looks like we will, so let's get in with it and try to get back up.

If we don't get back up immediately, ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ , maybe next time. I have zero control over it so don't get so worked up over it. It pisses me off briefly and I move on. Just me. Always been like that.

Not a problem if others aren't but I am not and can't understand the hysteria I constantly see on here. It's a game of football.

Oh stop!! I don’t believe anybody buys a club to deliberately destroy it. If you’ve been a Saints fan as long as I have you’ll know that we’ve always had ups and downs despite who the owners are. We‘ll almost certainly go down again this year, then we’ll rebuild and go again. I still be a Saints fan!!

I'm not attributing malice to what is clearly gross incompetence.

Yay! years of losing to Bristol City on a Tuesday night. Great times ahead <laugh>

I actually think we are better under Selles than we were under Jones and even Ralph this season, just completely blunt because the club totally ****ed up about signing a quality striker.

We were very good today until 1-0 and were well in the game until the 2nd.

But we are done bar an utter miracle, West Ham was the final straw, today was merely incidental.

Sidenote - Djenepo sure loves playing against City, what’s with that? Fantastic assist, good for Mara to get a goal too.

Not going to get too pent up about today, the fight was lost before now and I feel like they gave it a good shot, despite the score and how the stats appear.

They have got every single decision wrong since they came in, aside from signing Lavia.

Manager choice, scouting, player recruitment all absolutely horrific.

I genuinely am fearful we will be like Sunderland and slowly fade down to league one again tbh. I just can’t see how these fools have what it takes to get us promoted.

Hope I’m wrong. At least it’s never dull being a saints fan. It’s just sickening to see them destroy the club.

Oh also all starting line ups must include Alcaraz and Sulemana for the rest of the season.

Well that pretty went according to the script. In a match where we're massive underdogs, we play really well for an hour, were unfortunate to be one goal behind, and cursed the fact that we didn't have a decent striker (or any sort of penalty box presence). I've watched that programme so many times before.

The second goal totally knocked the stuffing out of us (not helped by bringing Stu on). City cruised it from there. But that can happen, fair enough.

Alas, I've also seen the next episode many times before too. It's the one where we're not the massive underdogs, but instead have a very winnable game. It's where we're totally inept, barely lay a finger on said opposition, and meekly surrender to defeat.

Without wanting to sound rude, how are you confident that Paul Onuachu is not the answer to any of our striking problems ?

This team is so poor. No stomach for a fight and roll over so easy. Won’t get to 30 points and fully deserve to be relegated. Selles is not the answer going forward into next season. What a mess

It’s not embarrassing, it’s Man City. But you can’t concede 4 goals and say we played well. We may have been competitive at times, but they carved us open down our right.

So what are we saying about Paul? Is he basically a big battering ram to lob long balls and crosses at? Can he not play with the ball at his feet? If he’s a good striker he’s a good striker, just play him. We haven’t seen enough to make a decision on him yet.

Well yeah, but we scored after they went off.

Whatever league we end up playing next season, I will be at SMS for the first home match and hopefully many more. When I started it was Division 3 South, my Grandad and his dad were season ticket holders. He said to me very early on after an unexpected loss ' you lose some as well as win some get used to it, we have'. Kept me in pretty good shape despite the ups and downs, short periods of depression etc. These last two years have been very trying but my scarf is always ready to go when I can. That is my take on things.

I have moved on a long time ago. I have zilch emotion in how the rest of the season pans out for SFC. Ipswich Town on the other hand are much more appealing, and I think will get back to back promotions!!

The number one most important thing this summer is to get our managerial appointment correct. As you say, Selles is not the answer. If I'd retained even the slightest amount of belief after the Wolves defeat that we could stay up, I'd have been furious at us for appointing him until the end of the season - but as it was, I was relatively nonplussed. It's just one bad decision after another by SR.

Yes I think he's better than Jones, but that is hardly an achievement. We're in big trouble if we're judging our managerial appointments by whether or not they're better than Jones.

Oh we are absolutely not winning points on pure merit, I completely agree.

Cheers, I didn't think he could walk any slower but there we go! Fortunately he lives near Cambridge and the hospital is rather excellent and doing well by him.

Isn't it time to put the tall guy and Dom Ballard up front, they couldn't do worse than the current chance wasters?

I know we dont see them training but it would be refreshing now to try something completely different up front. Years ago when squads were small occasionally it was necessary to bung a defender up front and if he had a bustling style of play it was often successful. It's awful to think that of all the players on the books there doesn't appear to be single one who can stuff the ball in the net. Players like Walcott and Eli clearly aren't the answer. There's a lad in our village who can welly it.

I know, I don’t get all this “can’t play against city, it’s not his kind of game”. How specialised (or inflexible) do players need to be? The only explanation is that Selles doesn’t rate Paul.

Because he’s slow and not particularly mobile, so therefore not suited to the press from the front/fast counterattack game that we were trying to play today (and doing well with in the first half).

We could have brought him on second half, but that would have meant a change in style. For other games, I’m not so sure why we’ve not used him as yet.

I went to the game in the end despite my lack of enthusiasm for it. Surprised by the discontent on here tbh. I get the position we are in means emotions are running high, but Man City will just as easily dispatch far greater teams than ours. We’re down because of the Forest, Wolves, Leeds, West Ham, Palace games etc etc. don’t think it would have mattered what we did today really, Man City are flying at the moment and few teams are able to compete with them when they are on form.
