That must have been a great match for neutrals . . . . end to end stuff, some good quality football, and lots of goals/excitement.
We came away disappointed, and the Hull fans delighted.
The Hull fans (I've always like Hull, and still do) are usually a friendly group, but I was disappointed with them . . . . singing the 'I want to go home' song (have they not been to Hull), and in the second half they sang 'we forgot that you were here' when we hadn't heard a peep out of them for about 20 minutes, which was embarrassing :emoticon-0136-giggl
I presume that there were only about 1,000 there above us 'cos they didn't sing much after the first quarter of an hour, even when they scored, and when they did they weren't very loud, as if they didn't really want to :emoticon-0112-wonde
We should have won, and probably deserved to, but as has been mentioned, we play some wonderful football :emoticon-0100-smile

Conceded far too many goals at home this season to have had any real chance of promotion, via playoffs or automatics. But dear me its been very entertaining.

I remember many moons ago we played them one November weekend near the 11th, there were a load of soldiers there doing the guard of honor. As the game kicked off they came and sat in the front row of the SWC to watch the game..I got talking to one of the lads in front of me, he was a Sargent and and a Hull fan and absolutely top class company for the 90 minutes.I can't remember his name, but since then I've always kept an eye out on Hulls results.

Goalless draw away to Burnley, concede 4 at home to Hull, defies comprehension.

For me I would prefer some more experience in the team to help the young lads through games, mainly centre half and holding midfield - just to hold things together while the young lads play their game.

Result apart which was a complete kick in the knackers and happened right in front of us, was totally pissed off as it was a stone waller but I had the best moment ever today with by grandson - both of us singing Sunderland songs at the top of our voices! Even though he has a season ticket at Pools, loves watching football in general, he'll end up supporting the lads if I have anything to do with it! <laugh>

Mate I go to the match says the same, but I think with everyone fit we have more than enough experience (Batth, O'Nien, Gooch, Evans, Pritchard, Stewart). My worry if we buy more experience in the team it then blocks the likes of Hume/Michut/Neil/Bennette/Ba etc getting game time. I don't want a team of 27-30 year olds

Fair enough point and maybe with the injuries we've had this season has put that thought in my mind. I think next season is going to be a big one for us and I can't wait to see who we bring in, hopefully they complement the players already at the club

Couple of older heads, plus a smattering of young players and we'll be fine. More concerned about our injuries this season and how we avoid the same problems next year

Tough game today against Hull but it’s only one match. Back at it in a couples of games so already in the past.

**** sake. I don’t know whether I’d prefer to have read that last thing at night, or first thing in the morning.

Disappointing if true but what can you do?

At least if it is true

    a) it doesn't make any difference to the rest of the season

    b) we've got a full window to sort it out

    c) our recruitment is top drawer

It would be disappointing though, if he left us for Stoke I'd have to question his intelligence.

Agree with most of ths but that last sentence is madness haha. If we win 5 of our last 6 we will almost certainly be in the playoffs. Maybe it's my rose tinted specs but I actually think there's still a chance, there's usually one team that puts a late run together. Why not us?

I was thinking the same. I'm off to Cardiff on Monday and I'm not thinking its over. I thought we might need a draw and 6 wins so the first part of that was taken care of this evening :emoticon-0100-smile.

I'm not saying this is likely, but win the next two which we could, and we might be 3 points outside with 4 to play. We can get 73 points and that might be enough. Teams above us would need to win 4 from 6 and that might not happen.

The goal now is to keep the season alive game by game and see how far we can take it.
