The only thing that comes to mind re the R's at the moment is that I can't see us scoring another goal or getting another point this season.... It's truly appalling.... Hello league 1...
I would agree Frome-R. This decline is deeper than just one man … however as we know it is often the man at the top that has to bear the ownership, responsibility and take the outcomes.
Good to see Andy Sinton interviewing the players from 1992 - Gerry Francis has still got a mullet! No Les Ferdinand on the pitch of course, can’t be a legend and a scapegoat at the same time. Whether it’s all his fault I don’t know. We were dismal today, completely devoid of confidence, but If Chair’s one on one with the keeper had gone in we might have nicked it, like the Watford game. It’s going to the wire.
Just back, a terrible performance against a very poor Preston team. Ainsworth should have stayed well away from our club for his own safety. My opinion is it all goes through Teflon Les and he can’t keep avoiding the blame. I also think it’s the fault of the owners for not identifying him as the problem earlier. No apparent tactics today, it was like watching 10 year olds play football. I’ll go to every game I can and won’t boo the team but we are past the point of no return now.
I didn't say it was all down to one man did I? We're on our 3rd ****ing coach this season and the director of football remains unchanged.
Wide open through the middle. I hate 3-4-3 for this very reason. They played 3-5-2 with 3 in midfield.
Just heard Ainsworth’s post match interview and he's completely thrown the players under the bus. I don't disagree that they have given up, but there's no way they'll play for him now for definite.
So, League One, then! Who would we keep? I would try to keep Dieng, Paal, Ozzy, Field, Chair and Willock. The rest we can sell for what any stupid club would be willing to gift us. Les needs to go.
Mediocre as they are, we’d lose Dieng, Field, Chair and Willock I’m sure. Probably get stuck with Johansen on silly money unless we pay him a chunk to **** off. Someone will take Dykes for a million or so. It’ll be a midfield of Amos and Dozzell with Armstrong up front and a 98-year-old Adomah on the wing.
So he's to blame for Beale's turncoat behaviour? If not for that we'd likely not have had any managerial changes. Critchley's credentials on paper should have made him a suitable replacement for Beale and GA is an appointment by committee made to try and stave off unrest in the fanbase.
I don't really understand what you're arguing here. I'm saying everyone from the coaches up should shoulder some blame, but Les seems untouchable. Critchley was a terrible appointment. Absolutely terrible.
By **** that was depressing. Did we have an effort on goal? The thing is, that starting line-up was pretty close to the side that was top of league in October. They haven't suddenly become as bad a group of players as the results since would suggest. It seems to me it's a complete lack of confidence in the group due to poor management and coaching. Beale was a ****, Critchley was the wrong kind of character to restore the lost confidence and Ainsworth seems out of his depth. I still think we'll stay up, though. A final game win over Bristol City will see us safe.
I was with you completely until that last paragraph you're right about the zero confidence and former ability of the players to perform though... however I think we're gonna run out of games to put it right and if anything we look worse and more desperate every game
We have demonstrated that we are the worst team in the league, by some measure, and we have been since November. I’m reconciling myself to L1 next season. I think as things stand this evening, we’ve likely more chance of L2 in 24/25 than being back in the Championship. For now, it’s the hope that’s been killed.
