The idea of an Independent 'Football Regulator' being appointed, with control over EVERY level of The Game, in England, at least, makes more sense as each day passes.

And a task, high up on their agenda should be a look at the 'Fit and Proper' guidelines.

Football Clubs are important to their Fans, often irrationally so, but that's not the point.
The people who gain control of the Clubs should at least recognise this and show that they deserve to be trusted with the emotional side that goes along with the business side of The Game.
Just being mega-rich can no longer be enough.
Whatever else might be said about Abramovich, he was good for The Club and The Fans.
And there are examples of what I at least would consider as 'Good Owners' throughout the Leagues, Boro for example,
But at MU we have the other example where the Profit Motive, SEEMS to have been the main driving force when this business was bought.
For any other business, that would be fair enough.
But Football isn't 'any other business'.

At the very least owner should be expected to show some understanding of how the game works and that their ownership includes something akin to 'The Trusteeship' of the Fans aspirations.
And if this excludes those with less than clear backgrounds or with no other reason than to make a fast buck then I for one will be happy.
If the guidelines were set to a requirement that any new owner needed to show positively why they should be allowed to own a club, rather than no positive reason why the shouldn't, that would be a start.

It'll be interesting to see who they get next. Until the owners learn there's no instant fix it's just a case of managers filling their boots - go there for a season or less then get your huge payoff for not achieving the impossible.

Potter would have got them going eventually.

Like a few have said good coach but when you’ve got these so called superstars coming in on massive wages and looking at potter thinking who’s this telling me what I should be doing it was always gona be car crash,
I’m certain after a couple of months chill out going through his multiple job offers and counting his hefty pay off mr potter will be a great manager

It's one big merry-go-****ing-round with these clubs - Tuchel gets sacked by Chelsea, walks into the Bayern job. Conte been poor at Spurs, will probably rock up at PSG or Real.
There's no meritocracy in football, it's just the same old names doing a grand tour of the big leagues. I really wish Chelsea had stuck with Potter and told him he had 2 years to get the team playing how he wanted and the only threat to his job would be if they were in the bottom 3. It's lunacy the way these foreign owners run clubs nowadays

I had heard a rumour that the new Chelsea owner thought that Chelsea automatically qualified for the Champions League :)

It wouldn't surprise me in the least.

While I happily confess to knowing very little about most popular USofA Sports, I do know that the word RELEGATION is not commonly used.
The whole concept is probably little understood.
It's no coincidence that the 'Breakaway Super-league' was well supported by USofA owners, and was to feature a no relegation policy.

Probably the best British manager to date, he’ll get a decent job somewhere in the premier league.

Will be though? Interesting to see how damaged he's become through all this. Think I'd take a step back til next season and not rush into trying to save the likes of Leicester if they came calling.
Another failure there certainly wouldn't look good on his CV, don't think there's enough games left to save them imo. Take a couple of months off would be my advice.

Very good manager. He had just over half a season and one transfer window in which he clearly had no control over. Everybody wrote Arteta off at Arsenal after 6,12 and 18 months. Good job the club never did.

I hope he gets the Spurs job.

Don’t think he would entertain Leicester as I think he perceives himself as a top league manager and Leicester will probably be in the championship next season. Agree with you that he should wait until next season to come back though

I feel sorry for him in the sense that he clearly didnt sign those eclectic bunch of players, and no striker in sight. I have little sympathy based on his results though. They should be playing better.

Just after he got the Brighton job I was at a coaching event where he was present. Was on a table with him for a short while and he came across as really single minded and confident in his ability. I dont think this will knock him back too much and he will be back soon. Wouldnt be surprised if he goes overseas to a good club though.

He was dealt what the owners thought was a royal flush. But the reality was it was ace high and they’d misread one of the cards!!

    Ridiculous all in all
