Ward-Prowse was so negative today. Even more so than usual. Supposed to be the captain but just unbelievably timid. Entire second half just sideways and backwards. Love the lad but it will be a blessing in disguise if we get 50m for him
Today aside, I think the right move is to let Wilcox come in and immediately hire the new head of recruitment and his own manager, and then commence the rebuild. And that goes for whichever division we end up in.
Oh I do blame absolutely everyone, but this is all in their hands. They've ****ed everything they've touched this season. The whole board, management team and squad can **** off as far as I'm concerned. Selles can be ****ing binned just for that gutless team selection alone.
Can't believe people turning on Selles already. **** me, could any of you on here do any better with that pile of **** he has to pick from, have a day off!
Glad our Football Club got to be the Sports Republic moneyball plaything for a few months. The shares in the club they purchased, the transfer money and now the loss of premier-league income. That's going to burn a gisnt hole in their pockets. Hope they're able to learn from it (and not just piss off after one season) and try and implement something more practical to get us back up on the first time of asking.
The most entertaining part of the last two hours were the 15 minutes I spent cleaning the kitchen at HT.
And for that matter KWP was crap today too. I really don't think there is a single player I will be upset to lose. But, at the same time, as I've been saying for ages, keep the likes of Sulemana and Alcaraz and we will rip the Championship up.
Heard that - Smith is just a useless t*sser - he clearly never does any research before commentating but at least he wasn’t biased against us today
****ing predictable. How many times have we lost narrowly against the teams around us this season regardless of how badly they play? You can’t do that and stay up.
By far our best moment offensively was JWP's cross for Tall Paul when he hit the bar and that is the way we have to go now. Start Charly and Sulemana (or Che) with Tall Paul up top. JWP and Lavia will have good targets to feed and we will score more often I think.
Fair enough. I don't think Selles is awful, and he has certainly improved us since taking over from Jones but I think we need to start afresh when we go down. Complete rebuild required. A manager with his own identity and clear philosophy. Then get rid of about 10 of the squad and bring in about 5 or 6 new faces.
Welcome to the acceptance club (sadly). I really don't know why anyone was thinking today would be any different, other than the hope (or bias) of being a Saints fan. My guess is that we'll go and put in a real shift against City, only to meekly lose against Palace. It was like watching the Brentford game on repeat. Concede from a set piece. Look like we could play for four hours without scoring. West Ham were awful. And they still beat us, and they still kept a clean sheet.
I’d get rid of him purely to have a total clear out. New director of football, new recruitment, new manager. New everything. The club is rotten to the core at the moment. It’s harsh on selles, as he’s shown promising signs. But I’d still get rid and start afresh.
Same. Still early to judge Selles but he at least looks like a Prem-level manager. A few weird selections but he has garbage to work with.
Instinct says they will continue to be ****, but also worth remembering Adams and Adam Armstrong have scored for fun in the Championship in the past. We need to fight tooth and nail to retain Tella this summer as well, an attacking line up of Tella, Alcaraz, Sulemana and Adams should do the job, on paper. We are bloated with strikers totally inadequate for the PL so might not be capable of bringing anyone in unless we offload, I really would like us to have a crack at getting Gyokeres should we go down though. Also will need a good Championship CM to compete with Smallbone and Diallo (Lavia and JWP will be gone).
