we did see out the last 5 minutes though It was the 3 he added on after the last 5 minutes that killed us
Not been on the site let alone your board for years so today I thought I'd revisit old friends / foes , by the way the way I've has a life time of being able to gloat so today just adds to the pleasure ,
Like I said mate... Not seen you for a long time and yet here you are now your lot grab a lucky late winner. Enjoy it though mate as these games always mean so much more to the smaller clubs in relationships like these. You lot have a very good record against us and until we learn how to treat these games properly then I'm sure it'll continue too. Whatever happens though I'll still be here come win, lose or draw .... I'm not sure we'd have seen any sign of you my friend had your lot not go there winner would we??
With respect Brizzle, smaller city? Yes Smaller club? Debatable but hardly so….. The Cardiff fans I know were desperate to win. Anyway, football really pales into significance …. I went to Uni in Cardiff - as did my son - and I really hope that we will be playing you in the Championship next season
been reading about this young fellas battle on facebook for a while now, hope it all goes well for him
Taff, completely agree mate, whatever disappointment I and many other Bluebirds feel there are many, many things that transcend football in terms of importance. Genuinely wish the lad well and pray he recovers. I wouldn't wish harm or illness upon anyone, whatever club or country they are from Afraid we will have to agree to disagree with regards size of club though. Just based on size of ground, numbers of supporters that can be attracted etc. we are bigger. Then historically, we've "normally" been in a higher division and have more top flight seasons under our belts. Admittedly there's not much in it, and in recent times the Swans have taken the lead more often than not. I do just think that psychologically these games have more importance to your club and supporters than ours (the celebrations from your bench at the end summed that up for me). I don't want this to sound like excuses because it's not. Of course we're hurting, of course we wanted to beat you but in the bigger scheme of things I think you guys get more out of this than we do (and no, I don't just mean the points ). All this aside, I also find it humorous that Matty appears out of nowhere to gloat. I really don't think we'd have seen him for love nor money had that winner not gone in...
Great response Brizzle As for Ground Capacity, as an example, West Ham’s is c62,500 whilst Anfield is c54,000: I think we’d both agree that West Ham is not bigger than Liverpool. Additionally, I’d guess that West Ham’s potential population catchment area is bigger than Liverpool’s? Anyway, let’s agree to disagree - and as I said above, I genuinely hope that we will be playing each other in the Championship next season.
No probs Taff. With all due respect, it doesn't matter who the "biggest" club is - that's all bullshit - Swansea scored 3 and we scored 2. In a game of such passion, understandable rhetoric from fans, players and even management, but at the end of the day we played poorly against a well organised but far from brilliant team. No hard luck stories from me - we lost through our own deficiencies rather than the opposition on the pitch. Swansea operated as a collective whereas we look like a team of strangers. Individual player quality at Cardiff is below average though there are flashes of ability that are not enough to trouble teams like Swansea over the 90 minutes - let alone 99 minutes. If we survive this season it will be because of passion rather than quality. Nevertheless I believe we can do it - where we go from there for next season is the big question because at the moment we have no footballing direction at all.
Great post also Sparkey You are right, we are far from a brilliant team: a run of 3 wins in - what was it? - 22 matches says it all really. Hopefully, you can beat Blackpool and Huddersfield, and with Reading likely to lose 6 points, you will be safe
Better late than never. A fussy little man and, though irrelevant bearing in mind later events, how in the hell did he manage only 4 minutes added time? 8 subs I think in normal time. At least 2 injury treatments second half and significant time wasting by our western friends. Okay he added another 5 for Ng's injury and the winner came in that time but surely at least 7 minutes should have been the original added time? I can't recall too much he got wrong. Ng played them on for their second goal. We had a couple of pen shouts but I, for one, was giving our guys points for technical merit and artistic impression. There was a lot of shirt pulling by their cb's and Kaba but rarely punished. As for the game, we are expert at shooting ourselves in both feet. McGuinness' marking of Piroe was poor for their first, Ng gave them a free hit for the second and, having blocked the free kick why didn't we just lump the ball upfield to prevent the scramble that led to the third? A final gripe on the ref. Yes they scored a third but where in the rules is a pitch invasion allowed by the bench and support team. Surely they should all have been yellowed, which would have seen red for those already on a card? No effect on the result but a clear lack of control by the Swans and officials. Assuming we stay up then we will revisit the contest next season. Their run won't last forever and our pleasure will be enormous seeing things turn our way. Despite losing and conceding 3 poor goals I felt our performance was better than in the last 3. Once we started to hold the ball, O'Dowda, Philogene and Ojo caused them all sorts of problems. We missed O'Dowda second half and I thought taking off Ojo was not a good move as he was driving through their middle giving Philogene more space outside. This rarely happened once the subs were made although Colwill made a great assist for Kaba's goal. Last point, I don't see Wickham contributing that much. Yes he is a lump and can hold the ball but it looks like his injuries have taken all the pace he once had. I think Etete, despite his lack of goals would have caused them more issues. I guess he is still unfit.
I agree Sparkey, I think you will stay up, with or without Reading's deduction, but the issue the guys at the top have is to get some clear direction on how you want to approach next season. At least this manager has got something out of your team but there is a lot to be done. Good luck in the next few games although one of my best mates is a Miller's fan and he assures me they will be up for it in the replay
To be honest, I don't know why I commented on it. I usually ignore that sort of thing and him. But back to earlier comments. I could not agree more that the size of a club is totally irrelevant. You only have to look at Leeds and Brentford as a quick example. The danger is in thinking that because you're a big club then you're better. The comparison between the Bluebirds and Swans is profound and has its roots in the Roberto Martinez days. Having faced the agony of nearly going to the wall, the Swans cut their cloth and we're lucky enough to present a rare talent to the footballing world. His insight, vision and determination set an unmovable ethos for the club in terms of style and management. His legacy lives on and despite some reverses, the club still knows what it is and how it wants to be. Unfortunately for us, we never had that break but instead have gone down the road of short termism and firefighting. We've got rid of anyone who might have made a difference and went with neanderthals instead. I think the new boss has potential and has already had a positive effect on things. That however, makes me fear for his future with the club. We shall see. For now, we have to concede that Swansea are in a better place than us but we must also remember how things can quickly change if managed properly. Bloooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooobirds
