yep - we just have to crawl to the end of the season. And I some don’t rate him, but Thiago is badly needed
We arnt miles off at all, klopp had a system, he had the players to play that system, it worked really really well. We no longer have the players to play that system. Gakpo is no Bobby, jota and Darwin are not mane. Salah is no longer the salah we knew. I'm not going to waste everyone's time running through the midfield or defence. The best managers get the best out of the players they've got. The system changes to suit the players, a few signings would definitely help, but unless klopp is willing to make changes its pointless
Potter obviously hasn’t got his act together yet. Far from it and it would be most disappointing if we drop any points there. Even Villa beat them 2-0.
The second goal is really annoying. I know it’s never gonna be given as offside, but can someone please explain how de bruyne doesn’t gain an advantage by being in an offside position. standing behind whole defence so when ball goes wide he’s already ahead of the defenders to get onto the cross. Yet if a guys is standing next to someone with back to goal and their ass is sticking a bit closer to goal, they receive the ball, turn, beat 3 men then score… that’s offside
we are miles off in attitude. forget anything else, those other things can't be fixed until we buy but attitude can be fixed today. drop the snivelling cowards, pick guys wanting to run and work. simple really. the heads dropped completely after 2mins second half. they need a serious looking at coming out after ht. they should have known exactly where city were hurting them and **** the spaces. that's also not good enough from analysts, coaches etc.
I’m sorry to say but I think the players are fed up with the tactics as they’re clearly not working. They looked like they have checked out.
maybe so but more fools them. watching thr 4 subs come on today and run for 30 seconds approx then just stop and not get close to any city player was hilarious.
Maybe they intended on doing that running but realised they'd be on they own and just thought "**** that". Still poor attitude if that's the case although Ox won't give too many ****s anyway
Mate, Virgil has been all over the show this season, right from the very first game against Fulham in the league. He didn't seem to lose that much speed after his injury - but he's deffo slowed well down now, and he has no sharpness whatsoever. He's aged about 6 years in 18 months, and nothing summed that up more for me than Sancho's goal at OT back in August - he just stood there with his ****ing hands behind his back. It's like he's terrified to stretch in case he breaks himself. Funny you should mention Rio though, because the same thing happened to him in his 30s, as it often does to 6'4" tall defenders who were speed merchants in their 20s. The difference is that United adapted their play as he got older - we seem to be in denial that Virgil can't do what he did three seasons ago, and still insist on playing 2-5-3 when we have the ball, assuming Virgil can still cover the 2 peripatetic full backs when they go off up the pitch and, more and more frequently, lose the ball and are out of position. I still think Virgil's experience, strength, passing, and heading ability make him a key player, but the days when the rest of the team could charge forward and press and leave Virgil and Fab to cover them are gone - forever. We need to start playing a different game or buy another Virgil if there's one about, and if they come in under FSG's £25m net spend budget.
You truly don't know the offside rule, do you? He's behind the ball when it is crossed, and before that is irrelevant unless he impedes play or the vision of the goalkeeper. It's there in the rules if you want to read them - there's being in an offside position, and there's being offside infringing on play. Read the rules mate, as I pride myself that the Liverpool board is a million times more knowledgable than the ****wits on the Prem Board. No offence, but you're better than this.
I think Bisc is talking about when the ball is played wide KdB is in an offside position technically, but not directly recieving the ball.
I know. He's not offside because he's in an offside position though. It may sound confusing, but that's the rule and has been for decades, I think. In summary, being in an offside position does not mean you're offside.
Yeah, not sure if that rule has stood for that long but a forward is defo gaining an advantage by taking up that position.
Unless they play the ball or interfere with an opponent playing or seeing the ball they're not, according to the rule, gaining an advantage. It's the rules.
Oh.... Yep then, I agree on Ally - his positioning is perfect and their goal had **** all to do with Ally at all. As I said further up the thread, Ally is our one world-class player now. That goal was caused by Robbo and Virgil being woefully out of position and, tbf Fab and Hendo being without their inhalers for over a year now.
