Still looking at the positives for the future, 2nd half we just fell apart though. Thought Gakpo was good today. Exceprt that dive.

Not saying it wasn't, just saying we're back at 2016 now, not 2021.

Rodri is one cynical c@nt, in the mould of a certain Sergio Ramos. Cynical fouls all game, and the refs just watch him do it. City had one of these guys in Fernandinho, this is his replacement

Rubbish result. Didn't watch the game so I've got no specifics swirling around in my head about who should have done what etc. Makes it easier to get on with the rest of the day.

I'm still hopeful of a European place. Any will do <ok>

Very honest of Klopp - they could have had more, many more. "This cannot happen"? Dunno what he can do to change it though, even for next season. The goalkeeper apart, not one player we had on the pitch today would get into City's squad, let alone their starting 11. Infact, the same applies to our team of three years ago - we literally need to replace the whole squad bar a couple of players.

    Back in the wilderness... :emoticon-0114-dull:

Learned it all from Fernandinho who did the same for about 6 years

You forgot what happens to us after a big win
Said it would result in some poor performances
I don’t know why we do that either
Let’s hope we pull ourselves together before the Chelsea game

Rio questioning Alisson's positioning in his post match assessment was a disgrace. His positioning is second to known and didn't deserve that criticism at all

Gakpo had a good second half but that very blatant attempt to "win" a penalty was rather embarrassing to say the least .

    So who do you keep
    Allison
    Robertson
    Konate
    Trent ( maybe)
    Elliot
    Gakpo
    Diaz
    Nunez
    Jota
    Salah
The rest including Fabinho, VVD, Hendo, Gómez, Matip, ox, Bobby, Naby, Milner are either going or need to have a long hard look at themselves. In what ££&&@@ing Universe do they think that the sh1t shows against Bournemouth Brentford Leeds Wolves let alone City and Real are acceptable to Liverpool football club. The attitude today was awful. No fight, no spirit, no challenges, just a mediocre team going through the motions. Just not good enough but can we really turn this around in one Summer?

Calm down mate, a lot of players who are not doing that well at the moment will be good again with the right players around them.

Think its time VvD sat out of the team

His decline is startling. Clear he's never going to be the same player as was before Prickford, but it doesn't even look like he's trying to be that player anymore.

So that's another position we need to be looking at in the summer.
    VvD is done
    Matip is done
    Konate is injured alot
    Gomez is wildly inconsistent.

Like I was suggesting add legs in Midfield so that we press hard again and work hard to win the ball back when lost and the defenders have more protection, does it then change the whole team dynamic?

Personally I don't think players like VVD and Fabinho have become bad players it's just that they are exposed to difficult situations more often. In those situations panic sets in because you know that everyone around you isn't doing their job at the moment.

2 quality midfielders with Fabinho benches Hendo who is then backup and it gives Elliott time to come into the right games, it also means Fabinho has players backing him up and stopping the ball getting at our defence and the same up top the forwards press the midfield then goes and the whole team plays higher again.

Who knows though? It's just my thinking on it all.

WTF do you think you're are doing? There's no room for logic and sensible contributions in these parts! Consider yourself banned :bandit:

PS... Who'd have thought I'd accuse Gonzo of being sensible <yikes>

Like I said earlier it was a 4-1 demolition. No one would have been surprised if it were 7-1 or 8-1. Luckily city took the foot off the pedal.

unless we get at least one victory out of the next two matches a European place looks tricky never mind a top 4. We are now 8th. The fall from last season has been as unexpected as it’s been huge.

    I totally agree
    And will add
Our season last year was massively energy sapping
For varying reasons the squad haven’t had time to rest

I have deliberately avoided have summer breaks with my grass roots team since COVID
And I am jaded - some of my squad look tired and these are kids and I am doing this for fun with no real pressures on me

emotionally last season would have been massive
Then a depleted squad and a World Cup
We have proved in the mini league we are there or there abouts - we just need to match these sides who treat our games like a cup final
Totally trust Klopp etc to sort it all out

    100%

I'll always applaud effort. Flanno was a great example, not the most skillful player but gave 100% every time he stepped on the pitch. Milner is the same. Not good enough for the long term or to be starting every week but do a job when asked.
